my actions to make our environment cleaner, greener and healthier 🌲🌲🌲🌴🌴🌴

Introduction

Living a healthy life is what we all crave for ourselves and our family. That’s why you see people go for regular checkups and eat healthy but staying healthy goes beyond that. It also means keeping your environment clean to avoid unnecessary germs that could pollute your food and water, making you spend more.

Funny enough, a lot of people think keeping environment clean revolves only around their premises and littering other areas outside their environment with dirt, which is mostly common among Nigerians but they forget is a collective responsibility.

I love the way @ngoenyi put it;

we are on earth to take care of our environment.

Well, let me share with you guys my little way I took part in cleaning up my environment but before going ahead I’ll love to invite @de-creata, @alexanderpeace and @effyb.

What did you do

Two days ago was the end of year party at the school I work and they had lots of drinks and food to eat. Since they are kids, we all know the kind of dirts that will be littered all over the environment.” As the person in charge of the place, I had to wait behind till the coast was clear, so I could clean it up.

The whole field was in total ruin after they had removed the canopies and chairs. I had to pick the dirts from the field and put them in a waste bin and I left the trash there because the place was getting dark and I was getting tired. I’d to come the next day to complete it.

How did you do it?

After the party was over, there were lots of recycling guys on ground waiting at the gate, begging to allow them come inside to pick all the plastic in the field. I allowed few of them inside to collect whatever they needed and it made the work a lot more easier.

The next day, the guy working with me said I wouldn’t have allowed them to enter. That next time, before letting in such people, you tell them to pick the dirts as well and they will happily do it because they stand to gain money after selling all those plastic. If only I was as wise as this young man.

Something happened the next day when I got to work. There was a heavy rain that fell that night and it came with heavy wind that blew all the dirt I’ve gathered the previous day, back to the field. It was a mess. When i and my colleague was done, picking up the pieces, we brought lawnmower to clear the field in order to avoid a thick forest when we resumed a new session.

Where did you do it

It was done in our school field. Since I’m in charge of that location, I had to keep the place clean.

What motivated you?

• The horrible smell coming from the compound after the rain the previous night has littered the whole compound with dirt, was enough to choke someone. In fact, after cleaning it up, we could still smell that offensive odor, we had to cut the grass to change the offensive smell. At least, it’s better you inhale the smell of a freshly cut grass than that terrible smell.

• Another motivation is the mosquitoes over there. You hardly see mosquitoes during the day but over there you will see mosquitoes and crawling insects flying to and fro, looking for who to devour.

• There is this sense of relief when you are staying in a neat place. You are not scared of sickness or any crawling snake that will come out from one grass to kiss you while you’re at work!!

Conclusion

We all know “cleanliness is next to godliness”. So, is important we keep our environment clean all the time because it is for own good and safety.
