Describe A Tilapia Fish

A tilapia fish is a freshwater fish with three fins known as Pelvic, anal and pectoral fins. It has alot of body parts. Based on fish anatomy, the fish has two fins known as Dorsal and Caudal fin.

Where do they live?

Tilapia fishes lives in ponds, rivers, shallow streams and others. They are known as freshwater fishes.

Is there any difference between scale fish and fish without scale?

Yes there's a difference. A scale fish is protected from pathogens, with the help of their scales while most scaleless fishes are protected from pathogens.

Because of this, scaleless fishes have thick mucus layers for protection.

Is it easily seen?

Is not that easily seen but is only when you go to the market you can easily find many of them

Have you seen one before? If yes, where?

Yes I have seen one before, I saw it in the market few months ago the time I followed my mum to the market.

Are they important to man, what significant role do they play in humans life? Talk about their nutritional value

Yes tilapia fishes are very important to man, the following are the ways in which they are important to man;

• Tilapia fish is available all over the world, they are never scarce and they can survive in a situation where there's a very huge range of conditions.

• It's a very nice insect and worm predator and is recognised to help keep many injurious insects clean from ponds.

• For their nutritional value, they are low in fat, calories, carbohydrate, sodium and others, making it a healthy addition to severe foods.

If they are dangerous to man tell us their dangerous part

The following are few ways in which they are dangerous to humans;

• Tilapia fishes are known to surely have disease because they are trained in a large pen containing alot of different fishes
• It contains toxic bacteria most times because most freshwater fishes has a flesh-eating bacteria and they can cause very serious infections.
• They may cause inflammation in the human body as they contain much less omega-3 than other fishes.

Some part of the country eat it, so tell us have you eaten it before, what's your favourite recipe is it dry , fresh or barbecued?

Yes I have eaten it before and I really enjoyed it. My mother has used tilapia fishes to prepare pepper soup and also banger soup. I normally enjoy tilapia fish when is fresh.
