Indeed It was a blessing in disguise

Years ago I and my siblings and mum were living at my grandmother's house in Warri, Delta State Nigeria. We travelled to Delta State to spend the August holiday that year at her house. We normally live in Rivers State but we are from Delta State.

My grandmother Mrs Janet Omadevuae became ill all of a sudden, few days after we just visited, we were all wondering why she just fell sick. My grandmother was a trader then, she sells palm oil and other things but most especially palm oil. She works very hard and makes alot of profit from her business.

Now my lovely grandmother was ill, her health was even getting worse. She also told my mum and aunty that she has a very important meeting to attend in a neighboring state with her fellow traders who sells palm oil both far and near. They were to buy palm oil at cheaper rate in that state which I was never told the state was.

All the traders have already decided the date they will all embarked on the journey on a coastal bus and they weren't happy as soon as they heard my grandmother was ill. They consoled her, telling her that she will get well soon and her business won't collapse. My grandmother had invested alot of money just to get those palm oil.

My grandmother wasn't herself anymore, we were seeing her crying, most times she will refuse to eat and my mum, aunty and uncle will be telling her eat that it is very important for her age. My grandmother was just thinking about the palm oil all day.

The traders finally embarked on the journey together, without my grandmother who was still ill. That was the morning my grandmother felt more bad. Few hours later exactly 6pm in the evening, we heard a news that the traders who went to buy the oil all had ghastly accident on their way back to Delta State. 75% of them were dead while 25% of them were badly injured.

My grandmother was sad because of the death of her friends, for 1 hour. Before we knew what was happening, she dancing and singing, thanking God for saying her life by making her ill in other not to travel with the traders. Everyone in the house laughed and we also discovered that grandma was no longer ill all of a sudden. Indeed the sickness was a blessing in disguise.

Moral lessons

  • Always remain patient in life.
  • Trust God at all times.
  • Never deny yourself food just because you are unhappy.
  • Pray at all times because prayer is the key.

Conclusion

Although my grandmother wasn't better than the traders who died, but it was by the grace of God 🙏. for now friends.
