Hi everyone!

I am so happy to be participating in this community. It's been quite some time though, but I am happy to be finally back okay. Checking on this amazing contest brought to us @bossj23 I would like to share my own point of view on differentiating the different camera positions when taking photos.

To begin with, I belief we all know what a camera is And how it has revolutionized since its invention. At first we need a digital camera to take out photos due to renovation and evolution in technology, our smartphones have been equipped with way better cameras With some comparing with the digital camera itself.

We all use cameras in our day-to-day activities to take shots and acknowledge our presence in those moments. Photos do not only help a show off but as far as souvenir which we get to acknowledge them later or share them with friends and family. Equally social media not left out.

Using the mobile camera, there are differentiated In different functions, and it takes a careful person to be able to understand and use them appropriately. We can take photos in various settings depending on the device we are taking the photos on.

Smartphones vary in production and the current trending And flagship in the market are The Apple phone, Google phones, and Samsung products. Other top companies following up in the same lead are xiaomi, infinix, techno just to name a few. If you can't find a Phone in the flagship you definitely find it in the list category.

We are talking about cameras and then we should know a little about how these forms operate. The iPhone operates on Apple OS known as iOS, Samsung and Google pixel phones operate on Android operating system developed by Google. The latest Android OS is Android 14. As for iPhones is iOS 17 release September 2023.

Enough of differentability, let's get to see how different camera on smartphones behave when taking shots In different settings.

What challenges do I have taking pictures for steemit use?

Absolutely, I faced little to no challenges taking shots for the steemit platform As of the moment. But in the past before getting to learn about cameras and your settings, I used to face problems uploading photos which I take on my smartphone. This is because of a large framings which way so heavy to be uploaded especially when I have a bad Network.

Since I began to explore cameras and learn more about them, I discovered that I could take pictures in low resolution and then compress them as well to have me upload them faster. So far everything is going good now and I faced little to no challenge. Uploading my photos on steemit.

However, not all the time I am in possession to take my shots, sometimes I get strangers to take shots for me. In that case, uploading will also be difficult as they take all photos in default modes. To make it more easy I have to upload my photos to a third party app such as WhatsApp Which helped Me comprise the size of the image. Sometimes the quality as well before uploading. That way it's much easier.

Spot the differences between picture A and picture B in terms of how the mobile camera is placed and the distance

Picture A
Picture B

Looking at the pictures clearly, we can see that picture A is taken in portrait mode. Why picture B is taken in landscape mode. That is to explain how the camera is being placed, in the first photo of the camera. Is place vertical and in the second photo the camera position is horizontal.

Looking closely, I can suggest picture A was taken At the close range of 20 to 30 cm while picture B was taken at a much longer range, let's say 1 M and above.

Going into more digital analysis on the picture size and framing, we can see that Picture A was taken with the camera closer to the subject, resulting in a close-up with a shallow depth of field and more detailed focus on the insect Which result to the blur in the background as seen. While Picture B was taken from a greater distance, showing more of the background with a deeper depth of field and a less detailed focus on the insect.

Spot the differences between picture A and B in terms of camera positioning

Picture A
Picture B

Looking at the image, one can tell that there's a lot of difference between the two photos and we will have to analyze them using some criterias We see below.

picture A

  • Camera Angle: The camera seems to be positioned directly in front of the family, at eye level. This creates a balanced and symmetrical composition where everyone is evenly centered in the frame.

  • Distance: The camera is relatively close to the family, creating an intimate portrait with minimal background visible. This brings the subjects into clear focus with a shallow depth of field.

  • Framing: All four individuals are neatly framed within the shot, and there’s very little empty space around them.

Picture B

  • Camera Angle: The camera appears to be slightly higher and to the left of the group compared to Picture A. This causes the child on the father’s lap to look away from the camera rather than directly at it. The angle also makes the family members appear slightly less centered, with more emphasis on the left side of the frame.

  • Distance: The camera is slightly farther away compared to Picture A. This results in more of the surrounding environment being visible in the frame.

  • Framing: There is more space around the family in Picture B, and the furniture behind them is more visible.

In Summary, Picture A has a more direct and centered camera placement, creating a well-balanced portrait with minimal background distraction. Picture B, on the other hand, has the camera positioned slightly higher and to the left, with the camera a bit farther away, which results in a less centered composition and more background visibility.

Take a picture of someone sitting on a chair and telling how I placed my hand and phone to snap

1000296964.png

Alright, so a picture of my brother sitting on a chair, The intention behind the image is to make it more sharp and have enough focus. Without using background blur or portrait, I took the shot in the following criteria.

My hands were placed vertical, at a distance of approximately 1.2 m away from the subject for the this gives me enough clarity for a perfection. In terms of camera positioning, My phone is place vertical as well in order to get a portrait shot. Just make sure we don't get confused here, portrait shots are taken with the phone vertical and there's a difference between portrait mode. In portrait mode the background is blurred.

I didn't want any of that so I took a simple shot as seen above.

In conclusion, understanding camera positioning and the various modes in which we can take photos is very essential as it help us have a deeper knowledge and the type of photos we are interested in and the purpose of which these photos could be used for. It is wise for each and every one of us To learn how to use our phone cameras properly and be able to use them whenever. Need arise.

Rounding up, I will invite the following persons to join me, participate and share their knowledge on phone cameras. @chant, @missyleo and @nsijoro.

Going through your post, I saw the picture of a Samsung phone, iPhone, and Google Pixel.
If I were given a chance to pick one for my pictures, I would go for the Google pixel. Why? Because it has a higher quality. I have never used it to snap pictures, but with my research online, I will make it my best.
