Writing contest: What is a family?
INTRODUCTION
Hello amazing kids and parents how are you all doing today I hope all is well and you are all enjoying your day, I welcome you all to today's contest organised by @udyliciouz titled "What is a family".
WHAT IS A FAMILY?
A family can be defined as a group of people who are closely related to each other in other words a family is a group of people that are closely related by blood, marriage or adoption, who are staying and rendering support to each other when need arises.
NAME THE TYPES OF MARRIAGE PRACTICE IN YOUR COUNTRY.
There are basically different types of marriage practices in my country Nigeria and some varies depending on their religion, tribe and ideological differences. And there are;
- Customary Marriage.
- Church Marriage.
- Court Marriage.
- Islamic Marriage.
DESCRIBE THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TYPES OF MARRIAGES MENTIONED ABOVE.
Amongst the list of the above mentioned types of marriage there are so many differences that exist between them which I will explain below.
CUSTOMARY MARRIAGE
When hearing of the word customary marriage it automatically triggers in us and reminds us of the word custom, therefore customary marriage is the type of marriage that is being conducted and organised according to the tradition of the land
It is a type of marriage ceremony that is being conducted base on agreement 🤝 between the bride's family and the grooms family and it includes giving out of list, giving gifts etc.
CHURCH MARRIAGE
Just as the name implies this is the type of marriage that is being held and conducted in the church, it involves the process whereby both parties about to be united makes their marital vows at the ulter in a church.
COURT MARRIAGE
This is one of the most popular marriage arrangements in Nigeria it involves the process whereby the union goes to court to arrange a marriage plan and sign some documents before conducting a wedding plan.
ISLAMIC MARRIAGE
This is the type of marriage that is being held by the Hausas and it is always polygamous in nature whereby a man can marry as many wives as he pleases.
EXPLAIN FIVE BENEFITS OF LIVING TOGETHER IN THE FAMILY.
There are a lot of benefits and advantages of family members to live and stay together and there are;
- It helps family members to be able to support each other anytime needs arises
- It brings happiness
- It brings emotional comfort
- The level of security of family members staying together are always tight and secure
- It increases the level of bond between them
- It promotes unity
IS A HOUSE HELP A MEMBER OF A FAMILY? Explain.
To me this is the most important question in this contest, most of us are always confused and sometimes if we happened to hear of an house help we often think of such a person as a slave that we can easily push around any how we want.
But truth be told even though biologically he or she is not related to that family but legally there are a part of that family and we should try and treat them as family members.
LIST TEN EXTENDED FAMILY RELATIONSHIP.
An extended family is a family group that includes more people were beyond parents and children rather it also includes uncles,Aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, nephew, niece, son-in-law, great grandparents, daughter-in-law etc.
It includes all the people who are one way or the other related to each other either by blood, marriage, registration, adoption etc.
CONCLUSION
The family is the most important primary social group which is responsible for breeding a child into the society. And all of us all comes from are family and it is our responsibility to love and cherish them.
