Contest: Instilling Descipline In A Child, How Is It Done In Your Locality.

The contest titled Descipline In A Child is a great one to bring awareness to us around kids. growing up, I don't have much kids around me like others except for my little twin sisters, and we are almost close in age gap, so therefore I have witnessed how children's are being disciplined from others experience.

What is descipline?

---

Many misunderstood Discipline for beating or canning kids, but discipline is far beyond that, Discipline is the act whereby you correct someone of a wrong habit or when people do something wrong , you correct them through the act of a discipline.

Disciplined is generally required so as to comfort or control people to obey rules, this can be done through punishment, or other method of threatening the person you are trying to get in line.

What forms does descipline take in your locality?

---

My locality is Lagos, and we have various of ways at which we discipline children's.

• By denying them of food - This is very common in my area, Note that it's not a total denial of starving the children, but rather making the food late or let them eat after others are done with their meal, my mum often do this while I was a child , and I'm sure this discipline kept me in line when I was about to misbehave some other time.

• Canning - This is what I have come to understand as Discipline while growing up, whenever I got out of the line and misbehave, I got disciplined by canning, which the pain I got from this makes me to fall in line and avoid going that same route again.

• Public Shaming - This is also another discipline I have come across in my area, when someone does something terrible, and they are above someone you can deny of food or cane, people resolve into public Shaming them, tell out their dirty things to the world to hear.

The moment this is done, they will stop going through that same way so as to avoid another public embarrassment.

In my locality, discipline often occurs when you have tried to correct someone of a wrong act over and over again, then the best thing is to deal with them in a way they understand, many only understood when cane is involved or when they are deprived of what they want.

Discipline don't just occur anyhow, a act must have warrant it, so when you complain of a bad habit to someone or you already tried as much to get them in line and yet they don't, then the next thing is to discipline them.

How does the kids respond to descipline in your locality

They responds perfectly to it, kids are mostly stubborn and they love doing what they like regardless whether they are going to get beaten or not, but when they got disciplined, at least you can be guaranteed that they will keep off what you asked them not to for a while.

Sometimes we might not be as much as Interested in disciplining them, but kids don't often listen to people who smiles too much at them.

What do you think is the best form of descipline to be given to a child?

The best discipline for a child is to warn them first, give them two times warning at least,so if they still continue to do that, you then let them serve the punishment.

I often don't support beating of kids, so in this case, you could bombard them with house chores, let them wash their clothes by themselves, clean their shoes, sweep the whole compound's, kids don't like these such of activities, which is why I believe it's a best form of discipline to them, and they wouldn't want to participate in such act again next time.

Why is descipline important in a child's life?

Discipline is important in child's life so as to keep them in line, children's are mostly stubborn, wherby the only way to correct them of the stubbornness path is to discipline them, thou it might not give the result immediately but it's still one of the best things to do to keep children in line.

What should be the right motive when descipline is given?

---

When you are disciplining a kid, avoid disciplining them in anger and you should understood that they are just childrens who probably don't have the full idea of what they are doing.

When you are disciplining a child, the motive should be that you are trying to correct them, and you are trying to let them know what is wrong from what is right, avoid disciplining with anger, and after disciplining them, make sure you let them know the reason they are being punished so they don't make the same mistake again.

Discipline in childrens is a way of correcting them from wrong to right, kids don't have much idea of what they are doing, so to keep them in line and let them know how bad it is, you discipline them a little and not at all in any way that could possibly harm them .

When disciplining a child, make sure you are not angry, or you could as well speak to them of their act and let them know what they are doing is wrong.
