I completely agree with you that we should teach children where and how the word welcome should be used. Whenever someone is welcomed, he or she feels happy, but the person doing the welcoming also feels equally happy. If he welcomes with his heart, whenever someone small comes to our house, we all welcome that little guest. I felt very happy reading your post.
