INTRODUCTION
There are 2 kinds of homonyms:
- homophones
- homographs.
Homophones sound the same however are usually spelled differently.
Homographs have the same spelling however don't necessarily sound the same.
What are the characteristics of homonyms?
By definition, a homonym is one of 2 or more words that have an equivalent sound and sometimes an equivalent spelling however differ in that means. So, homonyms share some characteristics with each homophone and homographs.
What is the importance of homonyms in our lives?
- Homonyms are important because words that look alike and/or sound-alike will mean fully different things. - it's important that you just concentrate on context so are reading therefore as to not misinterpret what's being said due to homonyms.
