Family in a nutshell is the smallest unit of society comprising individuals who could share the same values, culture, and beliefs related by birth or adoption. It may not necessarily be an association of people related by birth or blood. It could be a group of people who share the same ambition, aspirations and goals.

I envisage Responsibilities as those duties and commitments an individual is solely indebted to which is not supposed to be done by someone else at a given point in time. Humans will continue to need certain things and funny enough these needs are either provided for by the individual himself or by another person as the case may be. Many people shy away from responsibilities when they do not have the interest or capability to initiate such and the family is not left out.

It simply connotes deliberate or unintentional withdrawal in the performance of a task(s) or duty(s) that will meet the needs of an individual or group of individuals in the family circle thereby adding value to the lives of its members.
No member of the family is immune from complimenting others by carrying out certain routine tasks.
Some of these responsibilities could be towards the welfare of the members of the family.
A greater chunk of family responsibilities rests on the shoulders of the parents.

There's this child in my community that was neglected by his parents, he was given birth out of wedlock or should I say out of mistake.
The mom after giving birth to him abandoned him long before he started crawling. He was raised by his paternal grandmom. The mom only comes once in a Blue Moon and later takes- off for greener pastures.
The boy never had enough privilege to suck the mom's nipple and this affected his health greatly. He couldn't coordinate properly; it took him a longer time to start pronouncing words.

The father showed little or no concern for the boy. After securing a good paying job the dad went ahead to marry another lady who has given birth to children. The boy's mates are presently in primary 2 but he's still at home just because of the avoidable mistake of his parents.

A preacher once said that when God said we should go and multiply doesn't mean we should go and procreate beyond our catering abilities and we aren't the only ones to multiply and fill the earth. So, parents should only raise children they can cater for and they should be industrious to be able to meet the needs of their children at a greater percentage. Parents should never abandon their children no matter the circumstances knowing that they are gifts from God.

If as a parent you don't provide for your children the basic needs of life (food, shelter and clothing), giving them the enabling environment to strive by encouraging them and correcting their errors with love or rod, always know that...what we sow is what we will reap...and the future is not far from the present, so the child might develop some sort of hatred towards you and won't show up when his support will be needed by you in the future; so, BE WISE.

As a child who feels neglected, always remember what King David said in the bible "...when my father and mother forsake me then the Lord will take care of me". Always know that many people in our world were neglected by their parents, some because of their conviction and others for no just cause but they still came out strong and successful in life. Just be hardworking and make good use of every rewarding opportunity. In conclusion, don't allow your background to put your back on the ground.
