Social Studies Lesson: People and Their Environment
Greetings, everyone.
designed using canva.
My sincere appreciation goes to our beloved tutor, @udyliciouz. We have been causing so much harm to our environment without even knowing that we are doing so. This class is an eye-opener, and we are grateful.
No doubt, I had little or no idea at all about what my environment was all about; I thought it was just my immediate environment or where I lived. I had no idea my environment was this vast; it talks about the ocean, lakes, valleys, mountains, and so much more. Indeed, this class had a great impact, and I am glad I came across the post.
We humans are really causing so much harm to our environment, sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. We pollute the rivers and lands, and we indulge in deforestation; all these things cause harm to our environment, and we are in turn exposed to the dangers that come with doing so.
From the class, I was made to understand that "environment" simply refers to our surroundings, which comprise both living and nonliving things.
The term "physical environment" simply refers to that part of our surroundings that we can see, feel, and touch. Man-made and natural things are what make up our physical surroundings. Examples of man-made things include houses, cars, poles, headsets, shoes, books, etc.
Examples of natural things include trees, plants, animals, rivers, etc.
The features of the physical and social environment include;
- Weather.
- Ocean/Seas.
- Lakes.
- Valleys
- Mountains e.t.c.
In conclusion, we should try as much as we can to take care of our environment. If we harm our environment, then we harm ourselves as well.
