One Good Turn

Kante is 15 years old, he was a poor boy. His parents died when he was at the age of 6. Kante has no one to feed him or take care of him, he was all alone. Kante started selling daily papers door-to-door to feed himself and pay for his school. One morning, as Kante was walking to sell daily papers, he started feeling dizzy and weak. Kante has not eaten for days, he was starving. Kante managed to get to the next door to ask for food.

Poor little Kante begged for food but was not given every time. He got to the of a young lady. Kante asked the young lady for a cup of water, but seeing poor Kante appearance, the young lady came with a glass of milk and gave it to Kante. Kante asked how much the milk costed so he could pay back later, but the young lady refused to collect any payment from Kante.

Few years later, the young lady, who was an elderly woman now, was so seriously sick. She visited different hospitals and doctors, but no one to cure her sickness. Finally she went to the town to see the best doctor.

The doctor dedicated his time and money treating until her sickness cured. She was so happy, but she was scared she don't have the money to pay her hospital bill. But, when she was given her bill, it was written, “Payment settled. Saved a soul with a glass of milk.”
