A catfish is a sweet edible fish found in freshwater or marine water. Its major unique feature is smooth skin with no scales, they're severally long, with fleshy growths called barbels near their mouths that looks similar to cat whiskers.

They are found in freshwater but some can adapt to brackish water.

Catfish are of different types, they are

Freshwater:Blue catfish, channel catfish, falthered catfish.

Sport catfish: weld, bulkheads, white, mekong, giant.

Aquarium catfish: upside down, stringed, bumblebee, iridescent shark, cory, glass, potus, otocincius, bristle nose, chinese algae eater.

I have seen different species of catfish and has even gone to ponds to get them

this breed is gotten from creeks and man-made ponds, this breed feeds on nature

Catfish are important to man because of its commercial importance; many of the larger species are fished for food or farmed.

Catfish is healthy addition to any meal and has alot of nutritional value. It is low in calories, and filled with lean protein, healthy fat(heart-healthy omega-3 fats), vitamin B12 and minerals.

Catfishes can be harmful to human if not carefully handled this is because it has three stings of which two are embedded behind the fins and one on the back close to head. The stings can cause pains to human when It touches humans body.

Yes I have eaten it before. I have eaten different species but the last specie I ate is the best of all so far, I prepared it as fish pepper soup and ate it with rice, it was really superb. I also like it
to be dried, fresh or barbecued but fresh is my favorite recipe.

This is the end of my entry and to summarize catfish are very good in making meals and it has a very special taste that one cannot resist. One thing I learnt about catfish is that they can survive outside the river or creek if they are kept in a cool environment if the water they are kept in is continuously changed.
