How To Remember Everything You Read

Why do you forget everything after finishing a book?

Simply reading the text is not sufficient. Instead of memorizing the material, our aim is to retain it and use it later. To ensure that the knowledge is retained in this situation, practical and scientific methods should be used.

Here are some strategies I personally employ to ensure that I retain what I read in books:

1.Add Highlights

The simplest advice

Instead of reading the entire book over when returning to a book, you can simply review the key portions. I have a way for you if you are lazy like me and find the process intimidating, going back and forth to check all the highlights.

Utilize Readwise to import all of your Kindle highlights; it will then send you 5 different highlights through email each morning.

2: Recap & Discuss

the most significant base.

Writing and speaking out what you have learnt or found intriguing from a book in your own words will help you remember it far better. This is due to the fact that you tend to tie the material you are conveying to your own viewpoint or viewpoints that you believe to be similar to the author's.

You now possess ownership of the knowledge.

I optimize my reading list using this Notion template, and I also use it to jot down book summaries.

3.Impress yourself.

The strategy I applied in school.

Convince yourself about how fascinating the information in front of you is.

Sounds absurd, but it really works.

We frequently reach a part of our book that we don't find all that interesting. When such times arise, tell yourself a lie and pretend that it is actually engaging. You'll become more awake and interested, which will cause you to recall what you read that day.

4.Connect the Information

Connect the text to a familiar concept.

If there is a specific insight or principle you want to keep in mind, consider a time when you were a part of an instance where the principle was put into practice. As a result of prior exposure to the lesson in a different context, you will better understand it.

The author's point about you will be hard for you to forget, but you will never forget your own.

The main character in it is you.

5.Utilize adrenaline.

The oddest yet most useful advice.

After you have done or read anything you want to remember, try to increase your levels of adrenaline and epinephrine.

Consider this.

You can probably recall an event that was either extremely exciting or terrible for you. You were so awake at that time that you can still vividly recall it. Whether or not you learn something quickly depends on how you feel AFTER you experience it.

After the study session is over, you should take a cold shower for this .

6: Keep the fun in mind.

Read whatever you like.

Yes, I've already said that comvincing yourself can help you have fun while reading and remember what you've read. Sometimes books are genuinely terrible, or perhaps you just find them boring because the information is overused or uninteresting to you.

We are all aware that knowledge that excites us will stick with us the longest.

I personally use these suggestions, so I urge you to do the same.
