To please the needy with something without the condition of charity. Charity is a noble and humanitarian act. I agree with this that charity should start from home because according to Islam one should give priority to one's close relative in need. I strongly believe that it is better to keep donations secret rather than broadcasting them. Give charity as it is in the hadith, if you donate with the right hand, the left hand should not know.
