I am very curious what might time machine looked like, that if I could only turn back in time, I'd rather be that happy and joyful as it was.

Greetings to all Steemingzen in Steeming Community. I hope we are all well. Let me share my Throwback Travel Memories here.

This happened in the year 2013, when me and my colleagues planned it all along to go to Bohol and some parts of it. This was our one day travel from Cebu to Bohol and vice versa. This was the one of the unforgettable travels back in time, the fact that we even sat in the economy package of the ship going back to Cebu because we were not able to get the available deck, so we're struggling sleeping while sitting in the chair, ahahaha.

Just having breakfast in the craft. We rode fast craft going to Tagbilaran Port for about 2 hours. So we had to depart as early as we could from Cebu's port at Pier 1. It was a must to be able to reach the goal time.

We really meant to ride the fast craft because we were running out of time that time since it was just a one day travel, but I couldn't imagine it now how we able to achieve that 1 day trip with a non-stop tour from other parts around Bohol. We've been accommodated by our friend who were also our tour guide because she is a resident there.

HINAGDANAN CAVE

It is being called hinagdanan from the word "hagdan" in Visaya which means "stairs" or for it's a "laddered" foot steps.

Hinagdanan Cave is made of limestone. Its entrance is a hole about 1 metre in diameter, visible from a limestone hill. Cement steps lead to the interior. The cave is slippery, but there's a rope railing to hold on to. The cave is filled with sleeping birds in small holes in the ceiling. Hinagdanan Cave was accidentally discovered when the area's owner was clearing decaying branches. He threw a stone into the hole and heard a splash. After building a ladder to enter the cave, be named it Hinagdanan ("laddered").

The sunlight that enters the cave make it unsuitable for bats.

The underground lake is a popular swimming spot, but it has been known to test for high levels of various pollutants, since it is fed by ground runoff.

MAG-ASO FALLS

To reach the falls, we had to take for approximately 197 of stairs steps down to the bottom for at least 5-10 minutes. It is probably called "mag-aso" from the word "aso" in Visaya which means "smoke" because the water flowing down is like a smoky falls with it's flowing cold.

Mag-aso Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. It truly has it all from cliff jumps to little trails and of course a beautiful waterfall leading into that iconic blue water of the Philippines.

CHOCOLATE HILLS

Bohol is known to it's amazing chocolate hills where tourists want to see and explore. Long before, while I was in school, I just saw it in books and in postcards being published, that I just even wished it to see in person. While on our way there, I was excited the most when I thought that I could able to touch the chocolate hills, without realizing that it's just a hills and we could just see it from afar through the certain viewing deck. Is is called chocolate hills for it's hills formation that looked like chocolates.

From the main entrance, we had to walk a lot of steps going up to the viewing deck.

The Chocolate Hills form a rolling terrain of haycock-shaped hills – mounds of a generally conical and almost symmetrical shape. Estimated to be from 1,268 to about 1,776 individual mounds, these cone-shaped or dome-shaped hills are actually made of grass-covered limestone. The domes vary in sizes from 30 to 50 metres (98 to 164 ft) high with the largest being 120 metres (390 ft) in height. One of Bohol's best known tourist attractions, these unique mound-shaped hills are scattered by the hundreds throughout the towns of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan in Bohol.

During the dry season, the grass-covered hills dry up and turn chocolate brown. This transforms the area into seemingly endless rows of Hershey's "chocolate kisses". The branded confection is the inspiration behind the name, Chocolate Hills.

SAGBAYAN PEAK

Sagbayan means "place for hanging", coming from the root word sagbay, which means "to hang" and referred to the practice of hanging deer hides on trees to dry after hunting expeditions.

IMG_20210713_210221.jpg

Its main attraction is Sagbayan Peak, a tourism site overlooking a scenic valley with an observation platform and children's playground. While some similar hill formations are visible, it is not within the main Chocolate Hills area.

MANGROVE MONKEYS - LOON MACAQUES

Loon Macaques and Habitat is one of Bohol's tourist attractions that involves a species of crab-eating macaques (Macaca fascicularis philippinensis) inhabiting the pristine mangrove forest in barangay Cantomucad, Loon town.

Considered as true monkeys, these animals have a very intricate social structure and hierarchy. If a macaque of lower status in the social chain has eaten berries and there are none left for a higher-level macaque, the latter can, within this social organization, remove the berries from the former’s mouth.

When the monkeys are nowhere to be found, they are most likely engaged in things they normally do, like looking for crabs, clams and mudskippers (“tambasakan”); clinging and sleeping on tree branches; or just playing around with family members.

Loon Macaques also features a well-protected mangrovetum or mangrove garden the species of which have been identified by the Bohol Environment Management Office. It has a receiving area and a boardwalk. There are no food service facilities available because the monkeys are sensitive to the smell of food.

BLOOD COMPACT SHRINE

It is a particular site for blood compact that was made in honor of a very important event in the Philippine history done between Miguel Lopez de Legazpi of Spain and Rajah Sikatuna of Bohol. The Bohol Blood Compact sculpture was made by the National Artist, Napoleon Abueva, a Boholano himself. It is placed on an open and raised dais portraying five life-sized images of men gathered around a table with Legazpi and Sikatuna supposedly making a toast. Standing on the dais, visitors are treated to a good view of the Bohol Sea and the contour of that particular side of the island of Bohol.

Within the village where the Ati Tribe lives are various activities that the natives showcase to visitors. These include drum beating and tribal music, a few kids dancing, some natives holding different kinds of lizards, swinging on a rope suspended to a tree by the riverbank, selling bows and arrows as souvenirs, and tourists trying on target shooting with a bow and arrow.

SHIPHAUS

The ShipHaus is one of Bohol's tourists attractions, which is located in Poblacion Norte, Batuan. It is uniquely shaped like a shipping vessel; thus, the name ShipHaus. It is a house owned by Capt Gaudencio Dumapias, a native of Batuan who became a successful mariner.

Inside the ShipHaus you will find captain’s cabin, chiefmate’s cabin, kitchen, mess hall and others. The workers are all dressed in sailor's uniform. There is a roof deck that resembles the front of the ship from which you can imagine looking into the endless ocean while taking some refreshments.

ALONA BEACH

Travel would not be complete without this. The cool feeling with this white sand beach made the weary foot relaxing, and the beautiful scenery that made the eyes teased-tantalizing. This is one of the best popular attraction among the beaches in Bohol, with it's clean and non-toxic environment that tourists must try and experienced.

It is a public beach named after Filipino actress Alona Alegre who ran naked along the beach in 1973 for the movie “Esteban” which she co-starred along with Fernando Poe Jr.

BILAR MAN-MADE FOREST

The eye-turner mahogany man-made forest in Looc Bohol with it's amazing scenery along the road.

The man-made forest stands out because of the uniformity in height of the big trees, the spread of its branches, thickness and design of leaves. Seedlings abound around the older trees. Trunks, some thick and others just a few months old, grow resplendently straight up towards the sky which is obscured by the branches and the thick leaves.
