‘Out-of-Control’ Chinese Rocket is Falling Back to Earth

in Zero to Infinity3 years ago (edited)

You may or may not already heard that The giant chunk of space junk of rocket called March 5B weighs 21 metric tons that launched China’s first module for its Tianhe space station is falling back to Earth and may make an uncontrolled falling out at an unknown landing location. On April 29, The Long March5B Chinese rocket launched a module for the country's space station. The rocket's core is falling out of Earth's orbit and is supposed to re-enter the atmosphere this week. The earth's atmosphere, which can expand or contract slightly based on random changes in solar energy hitting the earth, will influence the rocket's re-entry period. If it does not burn up in the atmosphere first, the worst-case scenario is that it will fall into the ocean about Saturday.

The “Heavenly Harmony” unmanned core module was launched into low Earth orbit on April 29 from Wenchang, China's Hainan province, by the 30-meter high core of the Long March 5B rocket. This will allow construction on the US $100 billion Chinese space station to get underway. As far as we know that the rocket’s core is falling out of Earth’s orbit and is expected to make an uncontrolled re-entry this week.

With a mass of over 7,000kg, the Long March 5B rocket should disintegrate when it enters Earth's atmosphere due to its trajectory, heat, and speed. However, the core module has been mistaken for a meteorite before falling back to earth in the past.

The Long March 5B was a Chinese heavy-lift launch vehicle used for launching payloads into low Earth orbit (LEO).

The Long March 5B entered a temporary orbit and set the scene for one of the biggest ever-unpredictable re-entries. Some experts worry that it could land in a populated area. The good news, of course, is that more than 70% of the Earth's atmosphere is water, and this increases the chance that the missile splashes into the ocean harmlessly.

A larger Long March 5 rocket is due to launch an unpiloted Chinese space station core module by the end of 2018. The Tianhe-1 core module is expected to dock with two other planned space labs in 2022 or 2023, depending on the schedule.

An uncontrolled re-entry of the Long March 5B core stage has also been a concern for some time.
The Long March 5B made its maiden flight in November 2016 and was used once again to launch the Chang’e-5 lunar sample return mission in December 2017. China has not conducted any launches using the rocket since then, but it is still part of China’s active fleet as it awaits additional missions.

The Long March 5B rocket is 72.5 feet (22.5 meters) tall and 12.6-feet (3.9 meters) in diameter and was a member of the Long March family of rockets.

It was capable of placing satellites into low Earth orbit for satellite operators worldwide, including the Chinese National Space Administration (CSA) and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The Long March 5B was not large enough to carry astronauts to space.

Nothing over 10 tones has been purposefully left in space unchecked since 1990. Due to its speed, a slight change in its direction can make a major difference. It is estimated that on 10 May, plus or minus two days, he will return to Earth.
