Victory Day of Bangladesh

December 16 is the victory day of Bangladesh. After 9 months of fighting, on 16 December 1971 at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, the invading Pakistani forces formally surrendered to a joint force of Bangladesh and India. 3 million people of our country were martyred in this liberation war. We have become independent as a result of huge sacrifices.

A new independent and sovereign state called Bangladesh has emerged in the heart of the world. Every year the day is celebrated in Bangladesh with due solemnity and great enthusiasm. On the morning of 16 December, the day began with 31 rounds of artillery fire.

Honorable President or Prime Minister of the country received salute at the joint military parade held at the National Parade Square. Presidents, Prime Ministers, party and opposition leaders and activists, various social and cultural organizations and people from all walks of life laid wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar, Dhaka as part of paying homage to the martyrs of the Bangladesh War of Independence.
Our huge achievement was not easy. Almost every man has lost his loved one. Lots of people's houses were Burned. Forcibly raped the girls. After a long 9 month war we have achieved a red and green Bangladesh.

৩০ লক্ষ মানুষের প্রানের বিনিময়ে আমরা স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করেছি। পৃথীবির বুকে বাংলাদেশ নামে একটি নতুন স্বাধীন ও সার্বভৌম রাষ্ট্রের অভ্যুদয় ঘটে। প্রতি বছর বাংলাদেশে দিবসটি যথাযথ ভাবগাম্ভীর্য এবং বিপুল উৎসাহ-উদ্দীপনার সঙ্গে পালিত হয়। ১৬ ডিসেম্বর ভোরে ৩১ বার তোপধ্বনির মাধ্যমে দিবসের সূচনা ঘটে।
