# my town in 10 pics - St.Petersburg, Russia (3)
The scene I captured today at the Tube station at St.Petersburg, Russia: a boy is rushing to not miss the train. I still figure out how should I capture all the beauty of the subway cityscapes. If you may share some guides or tips on this issue, I'd be grateful.
Inside of a wagon - its not crowdy at the moment, but can be extremely 'packed' during the rush hours.
Crossing between two stations. It is quite elongated; some street singers use to choose it as their camping spot, like this young lady playing a flute.
Most of the stations have poor dimmed lighting - bad for photography. Taking pictures ith tripod is not allowed (actually, theres a huge list - 4 or 5 A4 pages! - of different guides and restrictions applied at the Tube territory...) The best results give the stations with a rounded white ceiling - like this one.
These kiosks that you can see on every station, both inside and outside, named 'The First Line' (i.e. the 1st page of the book) belong to the Subway's daughter commercial structures - they sell books, newspapers, water, chololade, sweets, and a lot of other stuff like that. Very profitable! Cause no other vendors are allowed to sell anything at the sudway locations. Monopolism is a bad, bad thing!
They became like famouse american drugstores, having such divercified assortment. Masks of course, also can be obtained here. Certain kiosks even have a little mirrors installed, especially for the female masks customers. They are most picky about the mask design, some of them choose glamour masks with prints or glittery decorations, and they always prefer to look at their own masked portrait in the mirror, while obtaining a new mask. By the way: authorities orders require citizens to wear masks, otherwise guards at the entrance will not allow you to enter the Tube... a lot of citizens obey, put on the mask, enter the elevator and put off the mask as soon as they passed the guards picket... A lot of folks at the Tube territory and in the wagons are unmasked - they dont believe into C-19 Pandemia very much by this point... or becme too frustrated with the idea of wearing masks non-stop for further 5-12 years...
An escalator bringing people down underground to the platform with trains. It is quite long and elongated, at the deepest and oldest stations.
This is not the Subway, technically -- its just the neightbouring area, close to the Tube entrance. Area like this, near the Tube stations, are always very crowdy, the folks pass by here a lot, and thats why those areas is a very popular location for different sellers of flowers, toys, foods, etc. Also they are popular among the street musicians. And suddenly - I noticed this group of fire jugglers who probably have chosen this station as their residence; this is the third time I have seen them here . Last time I took some pictures with a telephoto lens, and this time -- look what I got with a wide angle lens.
Honestly, I'm not sure if this is a good result. :)
