ছয় ঋতুর দেশ আমাদের মাতৃভূমি বাংলাদেশ। ঋতুবদলের পালায় আবার আমাদের মাঝে ফিরে এল হেমন্ত। ছয় ঋতুর মাঝে আসলেই হেমন্ত একটা চমৎকার ঋতু।কি শান্ত,স্নিগ্ধ, কি মধুর। ঋতু হেমন্ত তুলনা হয়না। হেমন্তের সময় মাঠ ভরা ধান, শিশির ভরা সকাল, নবান্নের গান। আমরা যারা এখন গ্রামে আছি তারা নিশ্চয়ই সবুজ ঘাসের উপর দিয়ে হাঁটার সময় শিশিরের শীতল স্পর্শে শিউরে উঠছি।

পা দুটো ভিজে যাচ্ছে হিমশীতল শিশিরের আরেক ধরনের শিহরণ জেগে উঠছে হৃদয়ে।

হেমন্তের সময় গ্রামীণ জনপদে ভোর হলেই কুয়াশা নামে। কুয়াশার চাদর বিছিয়ে দেয়ায় জমিনের ওপর। ভিজিয়ে দেয় ঘাসের ডগা। পাতায় পাতায় পড়ে শিশির ফোটা। নরম ধানের পাতা ভিজে যায়।

ভোরকে ভোর বলে মনে হয়না। মনে হয় দুপুর রাত। দক্ষীণের বাতাস হ্রদয় ভরে তোলে। মন পাগল করা হাওয়া।

শীতল বাতাস। শীতল বাতাসে আনমনা হয়ে যায় সবার মন। কাঁচা ধান পেকে যায়। সবুজ ধান হয় সোনালী, সোনা ঝিকমিক করে মাঠে। ভরে যায় চাষির মন। গায়ের বধূদের মন। আসে নবান্ন। নতুন ধানের উৎসব। পিঠা খাওয়ার উৎসব। রংবেরঙের পিঠা। মায়ের হাতের পিঠা।
