The plot of the film is based on the story of a fishing village on the banks of the Titash. Titash is a flowing river. The fate of the fishermen of his coastal village is associated with the river. Just as civilizations developed around the river in the past, so did a Malo settlement, a culture centered on this Titash.

Gradually Titash became thinner one day according to the laws of nature. The economic catastrophe came down in the lives of the fishermen. It is important to understand the plight of the people caused by this economic crisis. Otherwise, the audience will cry, mixing grief with emotion only. But don’t understand the appeal of the film.

At one point it was seen that the Malo settlement had developed on the banks of the Titash, as the river dried up, it too began to disappear. It is a normal rule that the upland or coast will wake up when the river dries up. But when politics started for that upland, the lives of the riverine people became miserable. Because it is difficult to understand the complexities of politics with the common eye. The capitalist landlords looked greedily at the upland that awoke in Titash's bosom.

In order to break the unity of the families in the jail, various tricks are being devised. They conspired to evict the fishermen and capture the pirates. For this reason, moneylenders pretend to be hypocritical and use the opportunity of lack of fishermen to show greed for money. The fishermen who fall into this trap go fishing in the dinghy and sing the praises of the gods. In this way, the unity of the fishermen gradually cracked. At one stage, defeated by the conspiracy of the moneylenders, many left the village and went far away.

With the death of Titash, life in his coastal village came to a standstill. In the course of change, the Titash-centric Malo Para began to disappear. If we look at it dialectically, it can be said that change takes place from one society to another. Priest Ghatak wants to highlight that statement in the film. So in the last scene of the film, Basanti starts digging sand in the chest of Titash in the hope of water. Once he fell in the sand and saw in front of his tired eyes, a green field has sprouted on the upland. A naked child is walking through the green chest. This scene is an indication of the change in the society.

Through ‘Titash is the Name of a River’, Adwaita Mallavarman (Author) depicts the life struggles, politics and economy of the people of Malo Para; In the same way, the priest has brought that poison to life. In the film we can express feelings by watching the story live. But the story, the thought in the novel, the power of imagination has to be deepened to understand the content.

After watching this film, the idea of many have been cleared and the superiority of director Ritwik has been seen. Several issues have come up in the Titash film; Which happens in our society; We have to deal with it constantly. However, many of us do not understand because we do not have the benefit of the brain and interests. The content of the novel and the film has been discussed before. Now let’s just highlight a few basic aspects of this film. It is done by following the rules of capital to change the society. With that the journey of life changes. But the exploitation of exploiters on working, toiling people does not stop but only changes the strategy of exploitation. Even then, the director, being a priest of progress and optimism, wanted to paint a picture of a society without exploitation through Titash. So we have to be optimistic without fear of change in the society.

The last scene of the film shows green young paddy growing on the Titash upland. That is the new world of survival. The last scene has come up as a metaphor. Although man is mortal, his deeds remain immortal. So, the fight to change the society has to be handed over to the next generation. The water of Titash dries up. There is wailing in the houses of Malo Para, lack of food. At one point when the river falls into the poverty and exploitation come down on the fishermen. In the end, hardworking, diligent, principled fishermen are forced to beg.

Once the protesting character is Basanti, today he very tired. When he got sick, he went out in search of water wrapped in torn kantha. Titash turned into a dry desert. In the end, the priest ended the life struggle of the Malos with the tragic death of Basanti. But he handed over the struggle of Basanti to the new generation. The harshness of the society painted by the priest Malo could not escape our eyes. In that society, women freely surrender their belongings to men; and men dominate women at that opportunity. But this image is not just of the Malo neighborhood or of that period; This custom or rule is thousands of years old.

The men of Malo Para will fish, sell, and market in the river; On the other hand, women will cut the yarn, take care of the family and give birth to children. This is how the life of a woman on the shores of Titash is limited. But the priest wants to break this rule with these two characters Basanti and his signature Mungli.

Like other women in the Malo family, Basanti was married off as a child. Basanti lost her husband before she understood her husband and family. Youth Basanti, becomes Radhi Basanti. This destiny of his accepted the social discipline. The youth covered the body with white sari. Husband-childless Basanti wants to get the taste of motherhood with Ananta. The busybody had a greedy look at the teenage widow Basanti.

In that society, lashes were tied to trees in the name of fatwa on the weak including women. Basanti, Mungli protested against this barbarism. After the death of the king's daughter, Basanti did not hesitate to protest when Basanti's mother expressed her reluctance to stay. Her lively voice said, “I don't think Daira ever got married. The dead are gone. I didn't know anything, I didn't understand anything, you made a raw radhi in Dhamma during that ignorance, "he said. In that society women do not have dignity. The production of women means the birth of offspring, and the consumption of men. If no one wants it to be, then it is a tragic death to be trapped in the trap of masculinity. Basanti and Mungli characters have shown in the fight to break that society. The Malo society has historically had a unique power to fight with happiness and sorrow and with nature.

Cheating like Shetal Babu, immoral person Titash Bidhubhushan Pal, Kalobaran or Kesht Chandra. And the priest has also revealed the cruel truth behind these issues behind the scenes of Malo society. For this reason, some topics or dialogues that are not in the original novel are highlighted by the priest. Titash through various characters. As he said with Mungli, "How in the Malo society, Morals like Kesht Chandra get fat by taking bribe and work for the selfish clique". Adwaita Mallavarman highlights Malod's grief, misery, and economic hardship. He also highlighted the role of some immoral people in making people refugees.

But Titash's drawing of the priest shows the change in the feudal economy. A decaying feudal society is collapsing. Titash is drying up, people are losing their actions. Refugees or city dwellers are the people who work hard. The priest has clearly highlighted this class inequality of the Kaivartasamaj. And because of this class discrimination, the unity of the Malos did not last in the end. Fishermen had to fight with the busybody to survive in a landless country. In that fight, he has taken a step forward towards building a new society. In Malo Para, many are heading to the city when the unity of the fishermen is cracking.

Basanti fights with his mother for the sake of Ananta, the son of Jhir. But that infinity goes to town with the family of another childless fisherman. This scene from the film shows the next generation breaking with the old traditions of Malo society and leaning towards education and urban life. To this new generation, the passion and love of Malo society is very little.

CONCLUSION

The fishermen of Titash make a living by fishing in the river. Even if they work day and night, they do not get the trace of financial security. Poverty is a constant part of their daily lives. Among these, various variations of ethnic culture are associated with their lives. Love also comes in this poor life. There is no match for uninterrupted happiness. At one time the river naturally fell into the upland. The river loses its cool waters, buoyant waves and swarms of fish. Luckless fishermen left their ancestral land and migrated elsewhere in search of livelihood. The boundaries of their grief are even longer. Titus is the name of a river. The reality of the working life of these people suffering from poverty, their way of life, their behavior outside the prevailing social customs, their own culture is the subject of this novel.
