کتے کے کاٹنے سے ایک بیماری پیدا ہوتی ہے جسے ”ریبیز“ یعنی ”باؤلا پن“ کہتے ہیں جو کہ جان لیوا ثابت ہوسکتی ہے یہ بیماری ہر کتے کے کاٹنے سے نہیں صرف اُس کتے کے کاٹنے سے ہوتی ہے جس میں ریبیز وائرس ہوتا ہے بلکہ دیگر جانوروں جیسے بندر، لومڑی، نیولا، بھیڑیا، بلی، خرگوش اور چمگادڑ وغیرہ کے کاٹنے سے بھی ہو سکتی ہے۔

Dog bites cause a disease called "rabies", which can be fatal. It can also be caused by the bites of other animals such as monkeys, foxes, mongooses, wolves, cats, rabbits, and bats.
Symptoms
ابتداءً طبیعت گری گری سی محسوس ہونا، سر درد اور ہلکا بخار ہونا، متأثرہ جگہ پر سنسناہٹ ہونا، ذرا سی بات پر بےقابو ہونا، پانی سے خوف آنا، جسم کے اَعْضا کی حرکت میں دُشواری آنا، ذہنی انتشار ہونا اور ہوش کھونا۔
Initially feeling dizzy, headache and mild fever, tingling in the affected area, uncontrollable, fear of water, difficulty in movement of body parts, mental confusion and loss of consciousness.
Treatment
ایسے مریض کے لُعاب، آنسو، قَے اور پیشاب میں بیماری کے وائرس پائے جاسکتے ہیں اس لئے مریض کا علاج کرنے والے مریض کے پاس جاتے وقت دستانے اور ماسک (Mask) پہن کر جائیں۔ خصوصاً جن لوگوں کی جِلد پر کسی قسم کا زخم ہو ان لوگوں کو ایسے مریض کے قریب بھی نہیں جانا چاہئے۔
The virus can be found in the saliva, tears, vomit and urine of such a patient, so wear gloves and a mask when visiting the patient. Especially people who have any kind of skin wound should not even go near such a patient.
First aid after a dog bite
جہاں کتے نے کاٹا ہے فوراً اُس زخم اور خراشوں کو صابن اور پانی کے ساتھ کم از کم پندرہ منٹ تک دھوتے رہئے اگر صابن میسر نہ ہو تو ٹونٹی/ نل وغیرہ کے نیچے زخم کو رکھیں اس طرح بہت حد تک زخم کے اوپر کے وائرس بہہ جائیں گے زخم کو اچھی طرح دھونے کے بعد اسپرٹ یا پایوڈین سے اچھی طرح صاف کردیں۔ زخم اگر بڑا ہو تو اسے فوراً ٹانکے نہیں لگوانا چاہئیں ورنہ اس طرح وائرس مزید گہرائی تک چلے جانے کا خطرہ ہے۔ اگر ٹانکے لگانے کی بہت ہی زیادہ ضرورت ہو تو 24 سے 48 گھنٹے تک انتظار کریں۔ تاہم اس حوالے سے حتمی رائے ایک ماہر ڈاکٹر ہی دے سکتا ہے البتہ کتے کے کاٹنے کے بعد اس کی ویکسین لازمی لگوانی چاہئے۔
Where the dog has bitten, immediately wash the wound and scratch with soap and water for at least fifteen minutes. If soap is not available, place the wound under the faucet/faucet, etc. After washing the wound thoroughly, clean it thoroughly with sprit or pyodine. If the wound is large, it should not be stitched immediately, otherwise, there is a risk that the virus will go deeper. If there is a great need for stitches, wait 24 to 48 hours.
