Documentary Review | House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths |@lolitsmaryam | 20% to @steemit-pak
Hello guys!
Today I’m going to be reviewing a documentary that I watched over the weekend on Netflix called House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths.
This documentary has not only left a profound lasting impression on my mind, but has also made me realize how false our perception of people around us can be. We may think that we know everything about someone but the reality is that we barely know anything. This documentary has truly left me shook to the core. My mind couldn't stop thinking about it so I decided to just write it out.
Before I begin with my review, let me first give you an overview of the story.
This documentary is based on an extremely unfortunate event that took place in Burari, India.
On 30th June 2018, 11 members of a family were found dead inside their house. The details of the crime scene were extremely disturbing. 10 members were found hanged from a metal ceiling and 1 member was found lying on the floor, strangulated. There was only 1 survivor in the house; their dog who was found in a really bad condition, chained on the roof top.
Soon, a swarm of people and media personal rushed to the crime site. Initially, the relatives of the family and the media refused to believe it to be a case of mass suicide and accused the police for giving this case a name of suicide rather than murder. However, later some shocking and horrific facts were disclosed through the CCTV footage along with the evidence found from the house which revealed that the family had indeed hanged themselves to death.
The evidence found also suggested that one of the family members named Lalit had convinced his other family members to perform this bizarre act with him. But how can an educated and progressive family that includes people in the prime years of their lives agree to take such an atrocious life decision? Who was this family? What made them do what they did? What did they get from this act? How did none of the other family members or friends have even the slightest idea about what was going on in their house?
Attached is the picture of all those 11 people who committed suicide.
This gripping documentary reveals all the possible answers to these questions and discovers theories revolving around this family. Each episode is very well directed and includes well researched information. It covers interviews of their friends, neighbors and acquaintances who share stories of their interaction with them and of police officers, investigating teams and journalists who share the process of investigation in detail and their thoughts about this case.
I'd rate this movie 9/10 and would definitely recommend you guys to watch it, however, it does contain spine chilling raw and sensitive pictures and videos of the family and crime scene so this documentary isn't recommended for the faint of heart.
