#CLUB100 |DIY: How To Tie-Dye Your Shirt At Home |

in STEEMIT PAKISTAN3 years ago
Hello steemers! Hope you all are having a wonderful day! Today I'm going to show you how you can tie and dye your shirt at home using powder/loose colors.

This was my second attempt at this DIY activity and I absolutely loved the results!

Looks so cool, right? Now let's begin!

The first thing you need to do is open your cupboard and steal your husband's white T-shirt. :P

Next, place it under cold tap water.

Once the shirt is fully wet, wring it tightly to get all the water out. The shirt should be damp, not dripping wet.

Then take a fork, and place it in the center. Start twisting the fork in clockwise direction to make a circular patter.

Keep twisting until the entire shirt has been twisted into a big circle.

This is what it should look like.

Tie the shirt with 4 elastic bands. I did not have that so I just tied it like so with a thick thread. Place it in a dish that is a little deep.

Now it's time to prepare your dye. I got this loose dye from a nearby market. These pigments are easily available everywhere. You can get them from the shop where they dye clothes. Take half tea spoon of dye and mix it in a glass of water and pour it in a saucepan. Add half tea spoon of salt and let the water come to a little boil. Turn off the stove and gently pour the color in the dish. Let the shirt soak the color. (Do not use silver saucepan. Use a steel saucepan as this dye can stain your pots)

In the meantime, prepare your other color in the same way.

Lift your shirt and flip it over. Pour the other color gently and let it sit for 5 minutes again.

Now lift your shirt again and wrap it in a plastic shopper. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

Cut the elastic bands and wash your shirt under cold tap water. Hang your shirt and place it in a shade to dry. Once it has dried, wash the shirt again and this time with a detergent.

Here is the end result. Now let your shirt dry, iron it nicely and gift it back to your husband. :P

This is the one that I first made. You can experiment with more colors and designs. It would be a nice fun activity to try with kids.
