Dear stemians:
Stomach:
Stomach is a muscular organ located on the left side of upper abdomen.It is also a muscular distensible sac.
Stomach has five types in which three types work as proximal stomach and other two are distal stomach.These types work in the stomach.
(Proximal stomach)
- Cardia
- Fundus
- Body
(Distal stomach)
- Antrum
- pylorous
Function of stomach:
The stomach perform following three functions:
1-storage of food
2-digestion and protection
3-control the movement of food
Layers of stomach:
The stomach is made up of following five layers.In these layers I want to tell you about these layers:
- Mucosa
- Sub-mucosa
- Muscularis propria
- Sub-serosa
- Serosa
Gastric gland and gastric juice:
Stomach composed of inner mucous membrane.Thousands of glands present in this membrane.Three types of cells are present in the gastric glands.
- Parietal cells:
(Secrete HCL) - Chief cells
(Secrete pepsinogen and it change into pepsin) - Mucous cells
(Present at surface of gastric glands)
Mechanism of digestion in stomach:
Chyme:
The stomach contents are sufficiently mixed after three hours and then it forms Chyme.
Hunger pangs:
