As you all must have an idea about my skills only if you’ve read my introductory post. Let me give you a little intro I am an embroidery artist by passion and I have a short business related to this field.

ESSENTIALS FOR DOING EMBROIDERY 🧵

The first things that are really important for doing embroidery includes

  • Wooden hoop.
  • Needle.
  • Cotton fabric.
  • Tarkashi thread.

Wooden hoop:

A wooden hoop is used for holding fabric. Because we can’t do hand embroidery if the fabric is not tighten and is loose. Threads won’t stick perfectly to the fabric if you don’t use hoop.

Needle:

I guess you all must have an idea about needles obviously. A needle is used for doing the embroidery. It’s like the machine which burns coal for the engine. 😀
Medium eye sized needle are best for Thebes hand embroidery.

Let’s start the tutorial of the stitches

  • Back stitch:
Back is one of the best stitches for outlining something in embroidery, making stems of flowers, making of the boundary of something or for filling the letters. This stitch is Alain known as brick witch if it’s using for filling something.
First of all thread the needle and make a knot at one the two ends of the thread.

Then pass the threaded needle from the back of the fabric so that the knitted side of the thread will be on the back, then at a small distant pass the needle from the fabric to make a stitch. After that again pass the threaded needle at the same distant as of the first stitch and then pass it from the same hole where you ended your first stitch. And that’s it.
Note: Try to make small stitches as possible because the smaller the stitch the more neat it’ll be.

  • Split stitch:
Split stitch is also very famous for outline and similar stuff as the back stitch. As I’ve wrote in the begging of the post. The basic stitch are all about lining, filling And for enhancing The embroidery.
Make a normal stitch just as I’ve explained above, then pass the needle from the center of the first stitch you’ve made and make an equal stitch as the first one in measurement. That’s it.
Note: The measuring part will take time as embroidery requires a lot of practice. And the most important part is do not get hath with tightening the threads. This cab thing your pattern.

  • Chain stitch:
You can imagine the stitch just by reading the name.😀 this stitch isn’t mostly use for making of flowers like lazy daisy. And also you can use if for multiple purposes. Like long chain stitches can Ben use day for making of leaves.
Pass the needle from the back of the fabric. Then pass the needle again from the same hole to make a loop of the thread. Do not do it in a hurry otherwise you won’t get anything obviously, your thread will be in yours hands. 🙊 after making a loop pass the needle from the back of The fabric to the center of the loop and then slowly pull your needle to secure the stitch. Then for the second chain, the point where you’ve pull out the needle, pass the needle again into the same hole to make the second loop.
Note: repeat the same proccess just do Not fight with the needle and threads. 😂 make the stitches gently and slowly.

  • Straight stitch:
The most easiest and the common stitch. But it may look like it’s not very useful but that seems not true. This stitch is one of the most commonly used in Punjabi embroidery.
First make a normal stitch then decide the gap between the two stitches and just make the second one.

-French knots:
French knits are the knotted stitches. They are used for small flowers. They look like beats also.
First pass the needle from the back of the fabric and then wrap the thread around the needle for two time. You can obv wrap it as many times as you want. But two times wrap looks neat and cute. Then after wrapping the thread onto the needle pas the needle just beside the point from where you’ve take out the needle first and do not let go the other part of the thread. Do not hold it tightly just hold it to make the stitch answer slowly release the grip.

  • Satin Stitch:
Satin is one of the best stitches for filling multiple things.
It’s the simplest yet the trickiest one to manage and practice. Make a single stitch according to your pattern and then make the second stitch just beside the first stitch and end it as close as to the first stitch and done. 😀
