PREFACE

---

There were only five days left and I didn't know what I was going to do on his birthday. I tried placing an order of cake at a nearby home-based bakery business. Since we mostly have to live in remote areas where there are no such city-like facilities. We manage somehow, but it's a struggle most of the time. Anyways, that home-based bakery didn't take my order. Now I had no other option than to do the baking myself.

Moreover, a get-together dinner was pending with some family friends and it also got finalized for the 8th. So my plans of birthday were further ruined.

It was just last night, I was out with my friends that I told them this story that I couldn't get a cake. They told me a place where I could get a nice cake. I couldn't get it customized at such short notice but thankfully they took an order for a simple chocolate cake.

BIRTHDAY

My son gets super-excited on Birthdays. He's just four but he wanted to surprise his Baba. But my husband came back home very early today. We weren't even done with breakfast. So we couldn't do anything.

The cake was supposed to arrive at the dinner party and was a surprise. But my son started crying when I told him that I'm not going to make a cake for Baba. I couldn't tell him about the dinner surprise. So in the end, I had to surrender and told my husband to stay in his room as the son was preparing a surprise. Lol

I was supposed to make lunch. But had to make cupcakes first. My son tried to convince me to make a pilot cake (Husband is a pilot). How could I make it? 🤷‍♀️

So after a mutual agreement, I made a helicopter and an airplane topper for cupcakes. They weren't that good but my son liked those.

When we were done with the cupcakes, I started preparing lunch. I decided to make stuffed chicken with garlic butter sauce. It turned out extremely delicious and I'm not kidding.

Then I and my son set up the table. My son made a birthday card for his Baba with my help.

We enjoyed the delicious meal as a family. Baba loved the surprise of his son. Though he knew part of what was going on in the kitchen. Lol

After the lunch and mini birthday party, I decided to do some pending Steemit Pakistan and Steem Library tasks. Two hours just melted away like ice these days.

And then it was dinner time. The most anticipated event of the day. (surprise, surprise)

I had asked another family to pick the cake on their way and smuggle it to the party. 😁

We got ready and arrived at the venue just on time. The dinner was very tasty and we had a very good time with our friends.

After dinner, I asked the waiter to bring in the cake. Husband thought the party was over as I put in a lot of effort for lunch already. So he was pleasantly surprised.

He cut the cake and everyone at the party enjoyed eating it. After that, we ordered tea and kept gossiping till midnight. Kids didn't want to go back home and neither did we. But everyone had to get up really early in the morning so we called the night off.

Little efforts and celebrations in life make it more enjoyable. Life is short and unpredictable, we should live it to the fullest.
