Steemit Engagement Challenge Week # 3 || Defend The Statements || Be the Critical thinkers we want to see! By @benton3

Hello my great steemian friends. I am very delighted to be with you all again this week through the steemit engagement contest. The contest idea of this great community is very unique and interesting even though it is very subjective in nature, opinions will be based on individual perspective, outlook and experience.

I have selected three topics which I am going to write on for this contest.

This is a very interesting topic. it has been hotly debated a lot in various spheres.

Marriage is a union of two persons who were brought up in different family backgrounds environmental background and other influencers that shape a persons thinking.

Even in the family where you have siblings from the same parents, it takes a lot of sacrifice to keep things going between two them.

So happiness does not depend on a person getting married. In fact the wisest book in the world said that for married persons, there will be abundant tribulation in the flesh for them. Thus every married person can attest to the fact that marriage has more sorrows than joys.

When you are alone, you have yourself and your family to deal with. But when married you now have trials and tribulations coming from your spouse, her family and her friends too. This is especially painful when one mates lifestyle is different from the other which becomes so obvious after marriage. Before marriage, many hide whom they are just to give a false pretense only to show whom they really are after tying the knot. Hahaha, sounds funny.

Many at times, it takes deliberate foolishness on the part of one mate to maintain the peace and happiness of a marriage. This implies that one will be happy while the other is suffering internally.

What can you say of the economic pressure put on married mates to provide for the family and other dependents. This will not be a cause for concern if the person is single and can readily provide for the few dependents he has.

So I would say that an unmarried person is a greater probability of being happier than a married person.

In fact, my advice to single ones is to remain and make best use of their singleness when they are young in order to live happier and enjoy their life.

So that notion as the topic presents is False even though it is largely dependent on an individual.

This topic is a lovely one. If I may define punishment from my little understanding, it means whatever an individual faces for failing to do something in a proper or right way. I can also say it may be regarded as facing the consequences of his action.

Going by that understanding, we can see that punishment is obvious in all spheres of life. In the working place, You do not play by the rules, your salary can be withheld, you may be given suspension from work with or without pay or you can be relieved from the job. In the house, children can be denied of certain priviledges or can even be whipped or spanked for certain things wrong.

These are all forms of punishment so to say. Thus we can see that most at times punishment serves a good effect and can help change a persons lifestyle. All depends on the individual and his make up.

We have seen some persons who have been punished by keeping them behind bars change their way of life while being an inmate, turning another leaf in their lives. We can not say that the punishment they received never served a good purpose.

I personally was someone who benefitted from the punishment I received. This spared me from certain dangers as I grew up as a young man.

So I am of the opinion that whether punishment has a good effect or not is largely dependent on the recipient of such punishment and that positively viewed do have a good effect on the recipient.

Personally, I would not love to touch this topic at all because of its sensitivity and nature. Also owing to the fact that this is a blockchain and everything done here remains immutabl.

From the first day you enter steemit, one of the first statement you will always be reminded of is that Votes are not Guaranteed. You may not understand the meaning of this until you finish your achievement task and delve into publishing other contents.

The issue of votes is core in steemit and primary too. For any steemian, one of our foremost objective is getting voted in our publications. When that is not done, we often feel discouraged and may decide to quit the platform.

But the sad truth is that no one cares whether you quit or not. You are just as inconsequential as a speck of dust. At the end the person loses out.

Understanding this fact will help to seek more explanations on why it is said that votes are not guaranteed.

° First, steemit is a business. In as much it is built on a blockchain. It has a CEO and other levels of staff employed by the business. So funds are necessary to run the business. So it would not be out of place to run the business in their best interest to keep it a going concern. Understanding this will help us appreciate what we get from them, bearing in mind that they do not owe us in any way.

° The resources to vote are theirs, thus no obligation is on them to give votes to you. They choose to use their resources as they desire.

° The voting accounts are managed by someone possibly in a different time zone from where we are. So there is the possibility that your post may not be seen considering the numbers of post made each day and especially since we are asked not to be tagging the curators.
Not to be forgotten is that there is a limit to how many post they can curate at any point in time depending on the percentage used. So If the percentage becomes low, they will wait for it to recharge and in the process, your post may be forgotten when it finally recharges which is the human factor.

All these factors can contribute towards our not receiving votes no wonder it is said that votes are not guaranteed

Each one of us can do something to get votes. We are privileged to become part owners of the steemit business. How? By investing in the platform through increasing our steem power. Steemit is a business of steem power. When we invest some substantial amount of money in Steem power, we cannot complain of not getting votes any longer. Since we now have the resources to do that, mind you. I am not talking about self voting. You can make more research on how this can be done.
