FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MOVIE| Steem Sri Lanka: Contest Series – Week 04 | Fly Away Home

You may know that there is a contest series conducted by Steem Sri Lanka Community and this is 4th week of it. This week's contest is done by @praveenw96 and it is on an interesting topic: FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MOVIE. So, this is my entry to it.

FLY AWAY HOME

There is a local channel called Sirasa TV in my country, Sri Lanka and they still show children's movie for school vacations since we were in our primary grades. It was around 2003- 2004. I first watched this film from that program and still they show this film sometime. I still love this movie.

This searched a bit and found that this film was produced in 1996 and was based on a true story. Main characters are Amy, Thomas, Susan and David. Amy is a little girl who came to live with his father after her mother's death.

This story starts with finding goose eggs from a near by wood which was destroyed by machines. Amy took those eggs and secretly kept them in heat until they hatched.

After they came out, they wrongly understood that Amy was their mom. So they follow only her and geese learn everything from their parents.

As they can not be kept in home without disabling flying according to the law, Amy had to learn them how to fly. Thomas: Amy's father has a light weight aircraft. So, he tried to teach flying to geese using that but failed as they only follow their imprinted mom: Amy. So, she had to show them migration paths too.

Then the challenge begins! Thomas had to teach how to fly an aircraft to Amy. But they have only limited time for all these things.

While they are practicing one officer tried to take geese mentioning the law. So, they had to lead them to North California as soon as possible. They make a aircraft shaping a goose. 😍

They landed to an Air Force Camp on the way to North California and almost arrested by them mistaking that they try to attack the camp. After that this news goes around and they become world famous and media covers their journey through their channels.


On the other day, some miles away of the sanctuary, Thomas's aircraft damaged and Amy has to lead them alone. As news goes on the televisions, people on the way helps her to find the way showing directions.

In the sanctuary, there are some people from a construction firm trying to destroy the sanctuary by their machines. Animal lovers and Susan and others wait there wishing for Amy and her geese to arrive quickly, so that they can stop the constructions.

At the right time they appear in the sky and causing everyone's happiness except constructors. I could feel the happiness too. I remember, I even cried watching it.

At the last, in the next spring, geese appear in the Amy's garden on their own. 😍
