I like Koala bears 🐨, Kangaroos and Pandas the most. Today I will share some interesting and useful facts about koala Bears. Koala Bears are so abdorable and Innocent looking little buddies anyone will attract to there cute look. Koalas spend a lot of day sleeping. Really they look like sleeping Grandpas.

Phascolarctas cinereus Is the scientific term of koalas. Mammals and herbivores feed on Eucalyptus leaves. Koala can 4-15 kg in weight. They have a life span of 13-18 years on their natural habitat. They look like bears.Koalas have a fluffy grey body with paws .Paws helps to climb trees.Baby koalas lives inside the pouch of Mother koala for 6 months. They live on trees.

Where do koalas live?

Australia is the homeland of koala Bears. Their natural habitat is eucalyptus forests in Australia mainly Queen'sland ,Newsouth wales and south Australia.

There's a lot of Koala conservation centers in Australia . Australian Koala Foundation is one of it. Where they launch several programs to save koala bears. Like fund raising programs, adoption programs.

What do they eat?
Koalas main food is Eucalyptus leaves . Koala can eat upto 500-800g of leaves per day. Baby koala feed on mother's milk upto 6 months.
After 6 months koala babys feed on mother's excreta. As Eucalyptus leaves are toxic babies can't have it directly. Excreta is less toxic and digestive.

Why do koala sleep always?

Koalas feed on Eucalyptus leaves. Eucalyptus leaves are difficult to digest and it's toxic. Only little amount of energy is produced . So Koalas sleep always. Normally they sleep 20-23 hrs per day.

Are they endangered?

In 2012 Koalas were declared as vulnerable . The most pathatic part is the bush fires in Australia from 2019-2020 period that resulted taking the lives of thousands of koalas , kangaroos , wombats and many animals endemic to Australia.

After the bush fires koalas were declared as critically endangered animals. It's stated that the number of koalas is less than 80000

Bush fires, animal attacks and road accidents are the main life threats of koalas. koalas are prohibited to keep as pets but I like to adopt one of koala 🐨.

Australia launch several projects to protect koalas like
Restoring natural habitats
Maintain healthy breeding
Adoption programs

It really helps to secure the lives of these innocent creatures. Animals have equal rights of living like human. Animal lives are in danger due to many human activities. So it's important to secure the lives of them as well because we both are parts of mother nature.
