The Story of Me and 2021💖 |Steem Sri Lanka Year-End Contest | Looking Back at 2021| 5% for SL Charity.

When looking back at this year, I realized that it too had come up with both ups and downs. 2021 approached in a time of a pandemic. However, what I believe is that it is waste of our time and energy to worry about the things that we have got no control over. Instead of that, it is better to make our lives better with the things that we have got control over. So I tried not to blame the pandemic to make us deprived of many thing, instead I attempted to lighten up my life with my own sunshine. So looking back at year 2021 gave me an enormous delight for the things I experienced and achieved. Here is my invitation for you all to go through a quick journey with me, about the story of me and 2021.

Hi January, Hi 21!

The reason that I’m looking forward for January is not only because it is the beginning of the year, nut also it is my birth month. This year was more special because it was my 21st birthday. I’m not a fan of big birthday celebrations, but I like to celebrate with my family and friends. And I had this big dream of mine to celebrate my 21st birthday in the beach. However, the time doesn’t allow me to celebrate my birthday in the sea beach. Yet, my family and friends got together to make it a more memorable birthday.

The birthday party started with a little ragging. I spent hours over getting dress in the mini skirt and crop blouse that I selected to wear on my birthday, but my big sis came with this nice pink dress and demanded me to wear it. I realized that my two besties including @dasuni knew this plan, but they kept me in dark. The time to be surprised again is when I saw my birthday cake. They had designed my birthday cake with the concept of my favourite boy band. It was a small party with my family, grandparents and two besties. But it was such a special birthday of mine.

Miles and Miles long February.

February is a month that I was all over. I kept company for my big sis when she was working in Hambanthota and it gave me the opportunity to travel a lot. My neighbourhood is almost a like a vacation bungalow as it was rich with natural beauty. Other than this, we visited Hambanthota beach frequently. Moreover, we visited Katharagama once with Akka’s colleagues and it was the first time I visited Katharagama without my friends.

Another best thing that happened in this month is my trip to Madiha. I have never visted Madiha before even though it is situated in my neighbor district; Matara. But I fell in love with that place as soon as I visited there.

Steemit March.

March was little stagnated comparing to the busy February. I had to stay more than a month away from my home as I had my university exams during that time. However, March became so special as it marked the month when I joined steemit family. During this ten month, I took baby steps with the aim of having a long journey in this platform. I got to know many supportive friends here who always encouraged and helped me. That’s the best thing that happened to me in this journey. I joined some contests that were organized by our community and I was glad that I won a few too. The distance that I came is shorter than the way I have to go. But I’m looking forward more than excitedly for that.

April I’m home.

After being away, I came home just a day before the new year celebration. There was only a few hours remaining, but I quieckly sew a new year dress for me as it is a habit of mine to wear a dress that I made for the new year table. So that also became a good memory of mine.

I was tired being alone for a long time at my boarding place, so I wanted go somewhere with my family. So we went to my besties’ place and we did our big chit chats and photo shoots. We also visited “Kande Vihare” after a long time. April also became okay with this.

May brings disappointment but…..

So when talking about them, the biggest dream of mine is to be selected for an English special degree programme. At first, I was disappointed that my GPA of first year won’t be enough for me to be landed on a special. I was more disappointed because my GPA is enough to apply for a German or Psychology special but English is what I wanted to be specialized in. so I mad eup my mind to do a general degree with English, instead of specializing in a subject that I didn’t adore as English. However, I was rejoiced when I found out that I had been selected for that. So this is gonna be the first thing that would come to my mind whenever I recall 2021. I felt like I was living in my long term dream.

June, July, August, September…. Let’s party bro…

These four months bring our family a continuous marathon of birthday parties and celebrations. May starts with my grandpa’s bday. Even though he said that he too old to celebrate bday parties, he always enjoy it when I nag at him to wear new clothes and cut the bday cake. July starts with our parents’ wedding anniversary and then moves on to big sis’ bday. My big bro to be’s mother’s nday is in August.

Spetember has the bdays of mum and big bro to be. SO these four months make us busy with bday preparations. Joy and laughter are everywhere as we frequently get together and part.

Stressy October.

October was so da** stress. My dgree demanded too much than I ever imagined it to be and I was quite preoccupied with it. However, is started learning Chinese and International Relations as soon as I left the school. I was in the diploma level of International Relations and Advanced level in Chinese. The semester end semester assignments and presentations of IR dip landed on the same month, and adding to the trouble, the oral test and written examination of Chinese were also scheduled for the same time. The time was not at all enough to balance all three of them. But it was my final level of Chinese, so I didn’t want to screw it up. So October was so hectic and stressing to the point that it still gives me a headache whenever I think of that time.

Huggies of November.

Since the last month was super stressing, my big sis suggest to go for a vacation. Since I had a huge crush over Madiha, we selected that place again. We spent three days and two nights enjoying that soothing sea breeze and waves. We spent all those time gossiping in our hotel rooms, filling our stomachs with the food of our fav restaurants and chilling in the beach. It was a perfect vacation that I could ever ask for after a stressing month.

It is no need to tell that books hold a significant place in my life. I always signed my name and date whenever I finished reading a book. So it is a habit of mine to check the dates at the end of every year to have a count on how much I have read this year. No matter how much I had counted, I rarely feel satisfied because I always have a big list of books that I need to read. My impatience to read them makes me feel like I need to read more than this. Nevertheless, I still counted the number of books I have read in 2021. It was hard to count it accurately. I have got some novels that were not available in our country, so those hardcopies are not necessarily placed in my novel section. I have read some novels for the second times and many other books were in my boarding. However, I counted that I have read 22 novels this year. This will go upto 34-36 with the novels that I have in my boarding. Not too bad comparing to my busy schedule.

December wraps all.

This year flew so quickly since I was so busy this year. The month starts with our trip to Pidurangala which is a place that I always wanted to visit.

Then I was busy with all these xmas and year end shopping. I got the chance to hand out more with friends as I spent my time mostly in Colombo. So my work load didn’t make me stressed out as I was busy with merry making also.

When going through the way I spent my last year, I feel very contended as I don’t have any regrets about the things I did and the thing I didn’t do. But it’s not like I’m climbing a ladder to the heaven. I too had many downs as well as ups. However, I the positivity in me looks at everything as something to be celebrated. Whenever I fell, I made it an opportunity to learn something new and strengthen myself to get back to my feet again. I didn’t sadden myself by thinking about the reason I fell, but cheer myself up by reminding me of my courage to rise again. After all, the way we think will define our happiness. As I mentioned earlier, worry about the things that you have got control over and try to change them, instead of worrying over the things that you have got no control over to change. You can create your own happiness that way.

And of course, another shout out should goes for my bestie @dasuni, not only for inviting me to participate me in this contest, but also reminding me of this contest as she know that I’m not good with remembering days.
