A terrifying fish that lives in the deep sea off the coast of California.
An unusual fish with a football-shaped body with teeth as sharp as glass landed on a California beach last week.
It is very rare to see a real angler fish and do not know how this fish got to shore.
There are more than 200 species of angler fish worldwide, most commonly found in the dark depths of the ocean. The animal's teeth are sharp and stand out like pieces of glass, and their large mouth is capable of grabbing prey the size of their body.
Scientists say the female is a fish because of the size of the animal and the protruding part of its head. The tree-like part is used as an attraction to draw a prey to the darkness of the water.
A female fish can grow up to 24 inches. The sighting of these strange and fascinating fish is a testament to the diversity of marine life that lies beneath the surface of the water, and how much is unknown about our marine oceans.
