Zimbabwe tour of Sri Lanka

  • It's a series including, 3 T20Is, and 3 ODI. Sri Lanka won the ODI series 2-0, comprehensively. Then the T20 series was very interesting, two matches had already finished and we saw some good Cricket, especially from Zimbabwe.

  • Sri Lanka came up with a few changes, with Wanindu taking the captaincy and Mathews coming to the team after 03 years. In the first match, Zimbabwe opted to bat first and could only score 143/5 runs. Raza showed his maturity and scored a fifty under pressure.

Anyway, the chase was not easy at all. The top order collapsed cheaply and once SL was 83/6 after 14 overs. But Mathews and Dasun took the match so close, but Mathews went out in 19.4 over with 6 runs remaining in the last two balls. Anyway, luckily Chameera could win the match for Sri Lanka in the last two balls, with three wickets remaining.

  • The second match was a thriller. Batting first, Sri Lanka got yet another lousy start. They lost four wickets in just five overs with only 27 runs. Angelo Mathews and Asalanka slowly rebuilt the innings and after 14 overs they accelerated it nicely. They could put a total of 173/6 in 20 overs. (Charith Asalanka 69, Angelo Mathews 66)

The chase was not easy for Zimbabwe and Sri Lankan ballers kept the run rate well under getting regular wickets. Earvine put in 70 runs, and Theekshana, Madhushanka, and Chameera were attacking well. The visitors needed 30 off the last two and 20 runs off the last over. Mathews got the ball, and Luke Jongwe just smashed him and won by 4 wickets with a ball remaining.

Afghanistan tour of India

  • It was a 3-match T20I series and India won it 3-0 comprehensively. But it was a great show of Cricket from the Afghan boys, especially in the third one.

  • We witnessed some magical and impressive games in the third one. India had a horrific start losing 4 wickets in the first overs. But Rohit and Rinkhu came to the rescue with an unbeaten 190-run stand off just 95. Rohit scored his fifth T20I ton, and Rinkhu with 69 runs. These two scored 36 runs in the last over. India ended up scoring 212/4 after 20 overs.

The visitors showed real maturity. They started steadily with both openers getting fifties, but had a slight scatter in the middle overs when Gulbadin and Nabi took the battle. The chase was huge needing 106 off 44 balls. After Nabi felled, Naib carried the game and needed 19 off the last over. Three needed off the last ball and the match got tied.

  • Gulbadin, Gurbaz, and Nabi batted in the Super Over off Mukesh and they put in a total of 16 runs. Rohit hit a couple of sixes and India needed just 3 runs off two but ended up once again with a tie.

  • Rohit started the second super over and hit a six and four off the first two balls, but then couldn't elevate and two wickets fell for 11 runs. Bishnoy took the ball to defend rather a difficult score, but he was successful taking both wickets easily. India won a thriller.

Pakistan tour of New Zealand

  • It's a 5-match T20 series in NZ, but after 3 matches NZ has won it very easily. All the matches were high-scoring and a of NZ batters. They scored 226/8, 194/8, and 224/7 batting first in three matches.

All the Kiwi batters were in insane form and especially the knock of Finn Allen in the third match was unbelievable. He scored 137 runs off 62 balls with 16 sixes.

BBL

  • Well, it's been an action-packed tournament so far. Even though many Australian national players were in the Test series, there was no lack of talent. They were just awesome in all the departments. The group matches are now over and now we have 4 semi-finalists.

  • Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers will play for qualifiers, and Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers will play the knockouts.

So, let's see what's happening in the tournament. It will be a thrilling week ahead.

Lots of cricket happening here in South Africa and we are still making the headlines... SA's test cricket team and New Zealand.
I cannot understand, on the one hand they complain that we don't get to play enough test cricket and then... most of our players are not available for the test series.
Oh well, I suppose money "talks" cricket!

Thank you for the update!☕
