Weekly CRICKET Review - LXi | A few words for Jimmy
Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,
You already know I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what is happening within the Cricket community. It's the 61st edition now.
After a pretty exciting and exhausting World Cup and pre-season, players, and staff are having a small break from international Cricket, the Lanka Premier League, the Major League Cricket tournament, the Indian tour of Zimbabwe, and the West Indies tour of England. So, let's see what's going on!
The Legendary Retirement
He is a once-in-a-lifetime Cricketer! It would be wrong if I didn’t dedicate a few words to him.
A 21-year career as a pacer, 704 wickets in 188 Test matches, a master of swing with stunning action, taking wickets even at the age of 41! Our legendary fast baller Jimmy Anderson bid farewell to the international Cricket in a high road!
He made his Test debut in 2003 in Lords, played for England's (ODI) team between 2002 and 2015, and for the T20I team between 2007 and 2009. He was managed well, to make him a specialist test baller in his latter years, as it’s tough for a long career for a fast baller.
In test Cricket, he has 704 wickets only behind Murali and Warne, at an average of 26.45, with 32 5 wickets hauls. 269 wickets in 194 ODI matches and 1126 First Class wickets.
He is the first fast bowler to take 50 wickets against all other seven major Test-playing nations, and the most international Test deliveries bowled by a pace bowler. (40037.)

West Indies tour of England
Anderson made his farewell in the first match in the 3-match series. It was a perfect ending for him as England won by an innings and 114 runs.
Batting first WI could score 121 runs. Playing his debut, Gus Atkinson destroyed WI taking 7 wickets for 45 runs. As the reply England put a total of 371 runs. In the second WI couldn’t do better and fall out for just 136 runs again with the fifer from the debutant.
India tour of Zimbabwe, 2024
After losing the first match, India came back strongly to win the next 04 matches pretty easily!
As I said in the last week, many youngsters and debutants were there for India under the captaincy of Subhaman Gill.
- India is preparing straight away after the retirement of Kohli, many are on the verge of proving themselves. Washington Sundar became the Player of the Series.
