My Favorite (#1) Musicians of Sri Lanka - 3 Generations
You know that I am a big admirer of Music even though I can't sing. It's my major stress releaser, closest companion regardless the time and place. As Plato said it can take me a journey of imagination, speak to my heart and touch my soul.
I thought to list out my favorite Sri Lankan Musicians, in 3 different generations. Well, this is hard thing to, but I gotta try. Sri Lanka has a rich culture of Music. We may not receive many International recoginitions, but these guys have connected with us emotionally to the highest level. There are legendary musicians who will be remembered forever.
And please remember it's not about the best, it's about the favorite which solely depends on my personal I hardly suggest the best, in a field that I am a child.
Pre-2000 - Mr.Gunadasa Kapuge
Well, this is the hardest category. It's the Sri Lankan Golden Era, without visuals or advanced technology still they could deliver long lasting masterpieces. Anyway I am going with Mr. Gunadasa Kapuge.
He is a Vocalist and a composer (7 August 1945–3 April 2003). His songs directly deal with my emotions and heart. He has a good musical background with the Education from University of the Visual and Performing Arts and from India. He has a deep and unique voice. He is more like a radical artist in his own way with simple but powerful lyrics with music arrangement. Kapuge is known for his humanism and common people believe that he speaks to them from his songs.

Early 2000s - Mr.Kasun Kalhara
Well, there is no hesitation for this. He is the product of Veteran vocalist Malani Bulathsinhala and composer H. M. Jayawardena. Kasun is gifted. He has a quite exceptional vocal range and got to be the best in his generation. He is also a music producer and a vocal coach. He has no problem in live performing.

Present - Mr.Charitha Attalage

Well, he is the greatest thing happened to Sri Lankan Music Industry in recent past. He is an artist. He works as a Music composer, producer, song writer, a singer, Mixing Engineer, Recording Engineer. He is just like walking library. He has studied, researched his area well and his mindset about his creations and life is quite exceptional. I invite you to watch some of his interviews. He is a combination of classical+modern music.
His collaborations with Supun, Ridma, Ravi Jay, Harsha resulted some amazing outputs. His live concert “Kuweni – A Cinematic Musical experience” is so dreamy that we hoped for.
