Dear steemit team,

Here is our application for the communities of the month program initiated by @steemitblog. We are using the community account to post on behalf of the entire team since this application is for the benefit of the entire community.

Community Purpose

What is the purpose of your community?
Is it unique?

Football is one of the most loved sport across the world and its popularity simply grows each year. This community was therefore set-up for steemians to be able to share their passion of either writing, playing, watching or simply read about the sport. Our community goals can be found here.

We only allow football-related posts in our community making it a very unique community on steemit.

Are there any other communities covering the same subject or area as yours?

I have seen a few communities that would post football contests for the members to participate but this is so far the only community that is focused solely on football-related articles here on steemit.

Why should people join your community?

Once you join our community, we guide you with our membership validation program so that you can be well-aware of the community rules and know how to write football posts of good quality. This way, everyone feels welcomed and can improve as we continue to guide them.

Also, various contests in our community are organized by the admins, moderators and even some of our members giving us lots of topics to write about.

Who are the Admins and Moderators of your community?

Currently, our community is made up of a diverse team of 4 proactive steemians who help to run the community affairs. This team is made up of great writers and people who share a passion for the game of football. We are made up of the following people ;

• @njaywan (Community leader) who is a writer from Ghana and is proficient in English. He likes to participate in football-related events, watches the sport most of the time, and is abreast with most of the latest happenings in the world of football.

• @theatrorve (Community Moderator) : Is a writer from Venezuela who helps to cover the writers from Spanish origin. He is also very proactive and helps run contests within the community.

• @marcybetancourt (Community Moderator) : Is also a professional writer from Venezuela who is proficient in both English and Spanish.

• @adeljose (Community Moderator) : Is also from Venezueala and helps to connect with authors who write in Spanish as well as art-related articles.

Are the team members paid or rewarded in any way from the community funds for their work in running the community?

We currently do not have a reward system in place for our team members since we are currently focused on community growth and don't have the funds for team reward system.

If you only have one Admin what would happen to your community if you left or lost your keys?

---

Our community keys have been entrusted in the hands of our team and is kept safe and offline to prevent the possibility of losing through data loss or an attack.

What is your Community Curation Account?
How much Steem Power does it have - both of its own and delegated to it?

@worldoffootball is our community curation account and currently has an effective steem power of 12,684.31 SP of which 5,898.44 SP is the account's own SP and 6,785.86 SP is from delegations.

What are your plans for growing the SP of the account?

Our intention for this account's growth is to provide frequent updates on it including the top 5 best posts of the day. We also encourage members to set beneficiaries to support our growth as well.

Are all the post rewards powered up, or are they used for paying delegators or members of the community team?

Occasionally, we use some of the account's steem to reward contest participants and delegators to motivate them in their efforts. However, most of our steem funds are used to power up to build our curation ability.

Who has access to voting with the account?

Community Moderators and admins are given access to voting with the account. The agreed limit for curation is 70% so that the account gets enough time to recover after the voting session.

What is the current Voting CSI score for the account (from Steemworld.org)?

As at the time of this application, the voting csi score of the account sits at 4.1 but is expected to rise due to the increasing number of posts we are getting lately.

On average what proportion of the posts each week receive a vote from the community account?

Each week, we try to reach as many posts as possible after making sure that they are void of any abusing including that of copyright and plagiarism.

Plagiarism & Abuse

What measures do you take to check for plagiarism and other forms of abuse (content farming, duplicate accounts, fake accounts)?

The number one rule of our community is "No Plagiarism" followed by "Observe content ettiquette". This means that we don't entertain any form of plagiarism or abuse.

This is why we started our membership validation process to be able to effectively guide members regarding this particular issue and be able to manage the rate at which members plagiarize. Similarly, through this process, we are able to fish out suspicious accounts and such accounts do not get validated.

Do you have designated people in your team for plagiarism checking?

In our team, we take turns in checking for plagiarism. At first it proved very challenging to accomplish this task since most culprits were using synonym changers and other tools but thanks to the great work by @endingplagiarism and @the-gorilla, we are able to also detect these articles and flag them accordingly.

Do you ensure all photos used in your community are copyright free?

---

This is one of our top priority concerning the quality of a post in our community. We make sure to point out all instances of copyright abuse we come across for the user to be aware of this rule in our community. Subsequent offense can result in the muting of your post and then further offense can lead to blacklisting.

Engagement & Commenting

Does the community team check and comment on every post in the community?
If not, approximately what proportion of posts are commented on?

We go through majority of the posts we receive within the community. This is how we are able to identify the top posts of the day and help render valuable support for these posts as well. These posts are visited by the team members and contest organizers so that we can give some feedback and suggestions of the articles.

In commenting, priority is given to the contests we run as well as posts that may have no comment on them. But during times on low entry posts within the community, most of these posts gets commented on.

Plans & Updates

How often do you post plans and updates for the community?
Do you post these through the community account?

Various updates are posted in our community both by the community team as well as with our community account (@worldoffootball). This helps to keep our members up-to-date about the happenings of our community. I admit we have been quite forthcoming lately with the updates on our community account, but each time the need arises, we present some community updates and developments.

These updates include but not limited to ; best posts of the day, validated members of our community so far, various contests, new developments and so on.

Do you have a roadmap or long term plan for the community?

---

We hope to build the biggest football community on a blockchain by guiding our members to produce great posts in our community. We also intend to keep building our community account's steem power by encouraging delegations to our @worldoffootball account. Eventually, we want to become a self- sufficient community which is capable of supporting itself no matter the circumstances.

Promotion

How do you promote your community?

Here on steem, we use tags like #football, #soccer and #sports in order to find people with similar interest who can become an integral part of our community. We have found several members through this process. Also, the contests we run also attracts guests to participate. Our discord channel is also shared on different platforms so that people can inquire about our community and take part in our activities.

Do you promote your community outside of Steem?

So far, we've been able to do some good promotion with @steemfc set-up by @njaywan to promote steem football.

We have a twitter account (@steemitfootball) where we post some of our community updates to share with the rest of the world.

Any other special features your community has?

• We teach community newcomers about copyrighted images, where to get them, how to properly cite them and desisting from plagiarism before validating their membership.
• We allow members to also present contests through our discord chats so that we can always be active.
• The community team is always open for criticism on how to improve our community. Discord is one of the ways we do this.
• We greatly welcome all forms of SP delegations from members.

Do you encourage only #steemexclusive posts in your community?

We strongly encourage only #steemexclusive content in this community which is an integral part of the @booming curation system. We have seen massive progress reaching over 200 active posts at some point. We also have more than 3,154 subscribers at the moment.

I would kindly plead on the steemit team to render us some visits on our top posts so that our members do not leave after we have lost support, while we try and build our very own steem power.

We will give our best to support this community at all times and as and when the need arises, extra moderators can be assigned to new roles for the betterment of the community.
