Pending Launch of Our Litmag: Steemhouse Literary Journal
A bit of news to share: we will be releasing the first issue of our online literary magazine within the next couple of weeks. It will be a holiday special edition and we are very proud of the stories we have to publish!
We didn't make an open call for submissions because opening that to the public was a last-minute decision. We didn't organize it well, mostly due to the fact that we already have enough stories to go live and anything additional will be a nice bonus, but not critical. However, if any writers out there wish to submit something for this issue, please feel free to do so. We're looking for seasonal themes like holiday or winter, Christmas, etc. This would be short fiction only. We aren't counting words this time, but if you aim for a total word count between 1,000 and 2,000 words, you'll be in good shape. There's no hard deadline for this, but do try to get a draft to us within the next week if you can. Use the Discord link below or talk to us in the comments if you are thinking about a submission.
It's important to remember that this is a professional literary magazine, therefore only your best work should be submitted. Submissions do not guarantee publication. It is very likely that our editors will ask for changes in the event they do approve your story for publication, so be ready for that. If you would like more information about what we expect and look for in short fiction, please drop into our Discord community and speak with our editing team. Be patient if no one responds right away. Leave a message in Welcome Center and one of our folks will talk to you as soon as possible.
Just as this site has a banner at the top stating "Viewing Steemit.com beta, note that availability of features or service may change at any time," we advise you that, in similar fashion, we are very disorganized at the moment trying to sort this new Communities platform, the litmag, and a revamped website for the publishing house. We have a very solid plan for how the different features of our community will work together, so if you can pardon our construction dust and be patient, we will soon offer a very organized and efficient method of submission, editing, and reward for writers on the Steem platform. We have some exciting days ahead!
