Goodevening friends, I want to specially thank you @simonnwigwe for creating a contest with a very special topic which is about "My cultural/traditional Attire". I will be sharing just according to the topic, be relaxed, and read through the end friends.

God has made things in his perfect ways by creating different kinds of people to live, associate, and relate together but then, in another way, he as well differentiate us with different languages and having different languages gave birth to what is called the culture. Culture is a way of life of people which comprises the food they eat, the attire they wear on different occasions, and different way of greeting.

What is the name of your cultural attire and how often do you wear it?

We have two cultural attire and the name of my cultural attire is; The Okri-eggon which has 4 colors, black, red, green, and white color lines on the wrapper we also have the kyienkyien wrapper which is the normal wrapper with green color with other colors mentioned above. These wrappers carry different colors and the colors signify different meanings. The green signifies agriculture which means my people dwell on agriculture in the olden days till date, the red signifies the palm oil we use in the traditional food, black signifies the black bene seed used also in the traditional food and white stand for peace and unity of the culture.

We don't wear it oftentimes because we so much respect anything that concerns our culture, we only wear it during festivals which are only done once a year and also for traditional marriages and the traditional marriages, the bride and the groom are the supposed people to wear the attires then others is optional to wear or not.

List and explain the activities which you use this attire for.

  • Traditional marriages

I have mentioned earlier that, the bride and the groom must appear in the Eggon cultural attire which means a lot to the culture, irrespective of where the groom is coming from. Wearing traditional attire makes everything unique and special. For those who are visitors to the traditional wedding, it is optional for them to wear traditional attire because they might come from a different culture.

  • Eggon carnival/festival.
In my dear culture, we have different clans. The festival or carnival is observed yearly and each time we meet from different clans, we make that day very unique and lively. Different clans come out with their participation in dancing, and also the traditional food presentation to the elders. Almost all the Eggons appear in cultural attire to make the day uniform though not everyone can afford to buy the cultural wear.

Do you consider your traditional attire special and how much does it cost? Give the price in steem and its equivalent in your local currency.

Yes, I consider my traditional attire to be a very special one and that is the more reason we don't use it anyhow except for weddings and carnivals. The traditional attire costs much and that is why not everyone has it, a full wrapper is sold at 9,000 naira which is equivalent to 76 steem while the Ashoke costs 12,000 naira which is equivalent to 102 steem, the beats do not cost much which is just 1000 naira only and its 8 steem.

Thank you all for reading through my post, I want to specially invite the following users to participate in this lively contest, @faridi1,@ajegena, and @ashkhan.

I saw this dress in a previous publication and it seems very beautiful to me, in addition to what it represents, it also seems to me that it is not expensive and can be accessible to the entire population
