What's Up! From ecoTrain Community on Steem!
Welcome to this first new curation from the ecoTrain community on Steem. Many of us are right now considering our options as everything comes to a halt and we have time to stop and think about the choices we make, and the way we wish to live our lives. Dependency on centralised systems is a very vulnerable place to be, especially right now. Therefore I am curating several posts relating to eco building and eco villages, and wow do we have some posts to share this week!

Mazunte Build – Concrete Plans and Concrete Actions
Once the last tire in the last course has been pounded, leveled, and the space behind it filled with dirt, it was time to focus all our attention on concreting. In order to tie all the weight of the roof together, and have the tire wall support it, a bond-beam is needed. And since two thirds of the circular structure are “flying” that is not held up by the tires, we have to pour seven columns, called castillos in the local jargon. Also, where the tire wall tapers down to where the window is going to be, we need a second bond-beam on top of the tires. That is A LOT of concrete, even before we get to the part of the actual big bond-beam ring, called cadena.

Moving to greener pastures // What I will do with an inherited piece of land
Well, these have been a whacky last days, trying to keep my shit together while juggling with a lot of different issues at the same time.
For one, it still hasn’t rained here despite a few really cloudy days that promised a lot but never delivered.
Second, my house-partner went on full anti-weed spree and pulled out from root all the beautiful nutritious, medicinal, soil-restoring plants from the garden because she’s old fashioned and needs to see everything tidy and boring. Situations like this put my tolerance to the test.

ecoVillages Journal #15: A NEW VISION IS BORN: A new, ultra de-centralised approach to rapid ecoBuild adoption in Penamacor, Portugal.
What can we do to make it as easy as possible to self build an eco home, at ultra low cost, and become self sufficient for all our survival and comfort needs? I believe I have at last discovered the way forward. I see with clear vision how to make it not only possible, but very easy, to build a small ecoVillage community with mostly volunteers, donations, and minimal expense. Until now this ecoVillages project has focused on one plot of land, in theory to house many families and people as possible. Now I realise there is a much easier way, and an approach that is truly decentralised, overcomes the many issues relating to community, and provides true security and ownership for all involved.
