The question is "who is your favourite football manager"? For me, it has to be a certain French man. Oh yes, it just has to be "Le Professeur", Mr Arsène Charles Ernest Wenger, popularly known as Arsene Wenger. Even though Jose Mourinho "The special one" did call him "the specialist in failure" Lol. He is still my favourite.

ABOUT ARSENE WENGER

born on 22 October 1949 in Strasbourg, France. He is a former French footballer and manager, as he is currently without a club and working at Fifa, The football governing body of the world where he is currently serving as Chief of Global Football Development. He is one of the most celebrated managers of his generation, has changed perceptions of the sport and profession in England and abroad.

His approach to the game emphasises on attacking mentality, with the aim that football ought to be entertaining on the pitch. Among all clubs he worked for, his time with my darling Arsenal was his stand out point.

MANAGERIAL CAREER

20211115_230128.png

His playing career does not cause much excitement as all his major senior career appearance was for armature clubs. But after a modest playing career, he went on to become a football manager. starting with NANCY where he had an unsuccessful path. His genius thinker brain came limelight when he joined MONACO and lead them to the championship and the Coupe de France. After his spell with Monaco, he moved on to the Japanese League where he joined Nagoya Grampus Eight where he won the Emperor's Cup and the Japanese Super Cup.

He was appointed as manager of ARSENAL in 1996 just after a year with the Japanese outfit. his appointment was greeted with little or no enthusiasm by the English media and players alike as was coming to a less impressive league. But to the surprise of all, In 1998 two years after his appointment, he became the first foreign manager to win a Premier League and FA Cup double. Another league and cup double followed in 2002 and won his third league title came in 2004, of which earnt distinction as his team ended the season undefeated in the domestic league, of which no manager has been able to replicate.

Currently, he also holds the record for most FA Cup titles won in with seven to his name. At my early age, I could not help but wonder if Arsenal football club was named after him, Lol. Then, he retired from management in the year 2018 when he left Arsenal after some disagreeing views from the club supporters.

For his love and faith in youths, he promoted and brought in youths. Under his guidance, he established a lot of young talents and players. Some of which went on to win the Balon D'or in George Weah, the only African player to have won the prestigious title.

He also guided a lot of young prospects and players to the limelight such as Jack Wilshere, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Hector Bellerin, Samir Nasri, Emmanuel Petit, Nicolas Anelka, Marc Overmars, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright, Thierry Henry to name a few.
