What is Steempower and Why is it important to invest on steem power.

I believe almost every steemain must have heard a measure of knowledge about steempower. Steempower is very important for the survival of the steemit blockchain, in fact, the entire reward pool hangs on the balance if every steemain had little or no steempower. So it's very important for a community or a steemain to have a sustainable amount of steempower.

Steempower- often abbreviated SP is a measure of how much influence a steemain has on the steemit blockchain. The more steempower you have the more influence you have on posts payouts, The total number of steempower you have is the same equivalent to liquid steem except that it's staked on the steemit blockchain and cant be withdrawn anytime you wish. If a User wishes to withdraw, the staked steem will be subjected to a 4-week withdrawal period with a quarter of the total steempower changed to liquid steem every week. This process is known as power-down.

Steempower is important in the steemit blockchain and in fact, It's fitting to refer to steemit as a Blockchain of steempower, because of the all-important role it plays on the steemit blockchain. Without steempower, a user is almost invisible and his/her votes inconsequential, a user cannot earn curation rewards or influence a post payout.

Influencing a post payout simply means resetting post payout, for instance, we have a post at $0.00 and @whitestallion with a cumulative steempower of 10kSP votes, performs a vote action at 100%, after this action, the post payout is reset to $0.55.

Investing in steempower is very important to both individual steemains and the steemit community in general. You can build your SP even though the price of steem is currently hovering a little below 1$, you can still build and hit 1kSP within a month on the steemit blockchain if you do the following.

• Buy Steem and Power up- Steemains can buy steem and power up on special promotion day, like the #SPUD for steem coming up on the 1st of MAy 2021. • Swap to steem and power up- Due to the increase in SBD price, steemains now prefer to set their rewards as 50/50 in order to accumulate more SBD which is higher.
