Greetings to everyone and welcome to another day on my blog, today on my blog we would be discussing virtual learning and it's implications in the future of education.

The word virtual comes from two individual words which seperately they mean differeny things but together they join to form one of the most interesting point of discussion in today's educational circle.

Virtual

This is a plane of existence which is beyond the physical world. Virtual is a creation of modern day science which enables individuals maintain some elements of interconnectedness.

The virtual world is a different world from the normal world we can see, it involves the use of advance technology gadgets such as the internet and other softwares

Learning

This is the proceeds whereby Individuals are able to equip them selves with vital information which would enable them survive in the future.

Learning is the process of assimilation of information through the use of various mediums, now the mediums are irrelevant the main objective is the assimilation of information.

Virtual learning

With the advent of modern day technology and the internet which has made the whole world go virtual, it has lead to the creation of a new field of study called virtual learning, this is the situation whereby indivduals are able to assimilation information in an environment that is not the normal physical setting.

Presently learning can take place any where , it is no longer a must that learning must take place in the class room in front of your teachers.

During the covid-19 our break in 2020 we realised that though we could not be face to face with our teachers we had to adopt various means of passing information to students in such a manner that they are able to understand and assimilate.

For this to happen we saw various schools during the lock down engage in activities such as online classes, webnairs, promotional videos, theses are just some example of how the learning process has spread outside the class room and gone virtual in such a way that one no longer needs that physical element to learn.

We only started to see an increase reliance on virtual learning during the lock down and since then we have seen an increase in the usage of various online learning experimentations.

With the way and the current pace at which the world is developing is it very easy to imagine a world were by the learning process would be dominated by virtual learning rather than physical learning.

In the United States of America school shooting has become a common occurrence wherby students take up arms and commit atrocities in schools, this is so sad to see or hear as it involves life's being lost, for fear of the life is students various parents in America are now opting for Thier kids to take online classes rather than conventional classes

The internet has made the process of reciving and sending information very easy, with the help of YouTube you can practically learn anything and as internet is spreading to the developing countries they would be able to access this information.

Cheap

When we look at the price of virtual learning as against to conventional education we find out that it is practically very cheap taking this courses online, schools this days have fees as high as $100,000 which is very expensive and this knowledge you would pay $100,000 can equally be gotten for free on the virtual learning space.

It's is not a matter of it they would implement virtual learning but a matter of how much are they willing to expand in this area.

I am Fairly certain unn will expand its quest for virtual learning due to the following reasons.

Unn has a vast amount of students and this students are slowly over crowding the campus, in addition to the high number of students already in school they are Soo many more who apply to this school each year, so in order to accommodate all this people the school would need to establish a virtual University.

E library

In addition to unn having the largest library in West Africa it also has an e library filled with works and thesis or the many professors and lecturer in the school.

Now keep in mind that unn has held the position of largest library in West Africa for close to 2 decades now they knew the importance of library when most of West Africa where still struggling with colonialism, surely virtual learning would be the same.

Center for distant learning

Presently unn already has a virtual learning program for those who wish to school in unn but are in different part of the county, the school has made it so that this Individuals can be students at the center for distant learning.

Yes such a move would be plausible because for such a decision like this to work they are two key elements that must be met, the financial and the human aspect.

Unn is financially posed under the funding of the federal government to carry out this project, though the digitization of the learning process would not be a heavy financial project rather it would rely more on the human aspect

On the human aspect they students on of unn are more technologically aware than most students are this is due to the fact that they have been equiped with WiFi which is free for use all round the school.

Yess u ahve had many bad experiences with virtual learning this is because like all good things they is always a learning curve before perfection is achieved.

The major problem I have with virtual learning is the poor network by Nigerian service providers, the whole concept bid virtual learning rest upon the availability of steady and quality internet connection.

Hence it becomes a problem whereby the network facilities are terrible , such is the porblem I often encounter with virtual learning

Virtual learning is a very important topic of discussion this is due to the direction the world is heading, it is something that we as students must face at some point in life.
