CAMPUS CONNECT: POST-ASUU STRIKE-WHAT WE SHOULD EXPECT AS STUDENTS

On that very day a meeting will be held with Top ASUU and Government officials present and the strike will be called off. The news will spread like wildfire all over the media, it will be on every front page of the newspapers and it will rise above the trend table on twitter even taking the number one spot as both students and non-students express their opinions, some joyous as they will be able to return back to learning especially final year students who will be graduating while some will be less happy because they will have to abandon probably their temporal paying jobs to head back to school.

The next line of event will be a back to school rush, markets and shopping complex will be crowded with students shopping items needed on campus, we will see a sharp increase in the price of commodities as unscrupulous traders use this opportunity to make enormous gains especially now that most businesses are going through difficulties due to economic woes.

This shopping rush will be followed by an increase in transportation cost, since most students school in different campuses in various states in the country. The first week of the post ASUU strike will be faced with difficulty in transportation as most parks will be filled up with students scrambling for sits in the buses to get back to school. Buses after buses will be filled majorly with students and all kinds of luggages. Since the major means of transportation in the country is by road this will pose difficulty.

The influx of students back to school will last for like two to three weeks before everywhere is settled. On arrival schools which were like ghost towns during the strike will become lively again. The buses at the gate to convey students to various locations within the school, even the trees will acknowledge this change as they wave happily welcoming students. The atmosphere is usually cheerful as long seen classmates and friends unite again.

Clean up will be on every students mind, new inhabitants like dust, cockroaches, rats will be driven away, a new sheriff is in town. Normal school activities is about to make a huge return. Students settling into their various hostels and lodges preparing for the toughest and most suffocating semester.

Lectures will no longer be slow and steady because it will be a race against time, Lecturers would use a day or two to finish topics not minding whether students are carried along or not. Quiz and Assignments will be coming in back to back to make up for lost times. It is going to be terrible for those who are slow in catching up.

My advice to students like me, is to get prepared do not while away your time during the strike, in as much as we are engaged in other things lets make out time to read our books, cover topics that have been taught and those that have not been taught because 'e no go funny oh'.
