Dhaka City's First Elevated Expressway:

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. No one from any foreign country will come to Dhaka city and understand that Bangladesh is a poor country. The worst aspect of Dhaka is its traffic jam. Every day thousands of working hours are lost due to this traffic jam. It takes 1 hour or so to travel 5/6 km in Dhaka city. It may take more. Considering these considerations, a flyover road was needed to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka city. Which has been implemented so far.
The much-awaited elevated expressway in Dhaka, inaugurated on Saturday, will bring new hope to decongest traffic and save time. Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Airport Road-Farmgate section of the expressway on 02 September 2023 and it was opened for traffic at 6 am on 03 September 2023. So, it will take only 12 to 15 minutes to travel from Kaola to Farmgate.
According to the project officials, about 80,000 vehicles will be able to travel on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway every day. The country's first elevated highway will reduce traffic congestion in the congested city.
I think it usually takes half an hour to an hour to reach Farmgate by road from Dhaka Airport. Sometimes it takes from one hour to one and a half to two hours or more if there is traffic. Reaching the destination by this route in 12/15 minutes was a dream. Those who use this route every day know that this road is one of the busiest roads in the capital and how much suffering one has to go through on this road every day. I hope that Dhaka Elevated Expressway will save us time and travel will be easy.
Yet, obviously, my experience on this course is more terrible! Last year in September I was in Dhaka for around multi month. I frequently needed to come to Farmgate-Shahbagh for work. The days I utilized this course nearly required 3/4 hours. Additionally around midnight. On one occasion I went from Shahbagh to Uttara House building region by bicycle (note that it is not difficult to go by bicycle in Dhaka city) it required around 2 hours that day as well.
However, due to the toll rate on this expressway, regular commuters are worried about how much the transport fare will increase. However, it should be ensured that rent is within the reach of the public. Otherwise, the pressure will fall on everyone.
For the time being, permission to drive motorcycles will not be given, the authorities said. Taking any kind of pictures while standing on the expressway is also prohibited.
