SEC - S15W6 : LIVING WITH STEEM
Introduction |
---|
Hello guys.. been a while I joined our weekly challenge. I thought I could ignore it but the challenge is just irresistible. I can bet, steem entrepreneur will get their highest entry in this week challenge.
Now, over to what brought us here : LIVING WITH STEEM.
Steem has in one way or the other made a kind of impact in our lives whether positively or negatively. For me, it has been positive since the period I’ve joined even though I keep running away once in awhile but no matter how far I run, I still remember my first love. Steem has given me the opportunity to meet with great minds with high intellectual prowess. Sometimes, when I read their literary work of art, I become amazed and want to improve more on myself.
A lot can be said when it comes to the positive impact steemit has made in my life but I will be putting it down in an arranged guideline set aside for this challenge. But before jumping into it, let me use this opportunity to invite @blessingogah-1, @uduak01 and @shahid2030
Let’s begin;
Income and Skills Development |

I was among the lucky set of steemians who saw when sbd and steem was over the roof as far back as 2017. I know a lot of people who quit their jobs, opened steemit hub and even bought a car with steem. In my own case, steemit was a Saving Grace to me. I entered Steemit during my down times after Ponzi schemes have finished dealing with me and I was penniless. To make things worse, I had no job.
Steemit was like a miracle in disguise because as at when I joined then, I had no business with writing content. The person who brought us on board said that Steemit was easy, you just need to know only to “read and write”. So, i happily joined but he didn’t tell us “reading and writing” could be this complicated when money is involved.
At first, I was warned several times by “bot” for plagiarism but gradually I improved on myself. Then we didn’t have any organized challenges and contests, like we have now thanks to @disconnect, I was free to write on any interesting topic I could stumble upon on the net and put in my own words since plagiarism was out of the question. That was how I started developing interest gradually for writing and it was paying off good money.
The idea of looking for a job started erasing of my memory because our boss @eurogee, will always tell us that we should stop looking at steemit as thing to pass time, we should change our mindset and start looking at it as an actual job where you get paid at the end of every 7 days for ditching out good content. I held onto his word and ran with that vision. That was brought about my passion for reading books. I had to read all the times to improve on my vocabulary and writing style.
There was a time around that year 2017, when sbd was worth $10-$12, if not more, I bought my first laptop that year and i pimped my room real good. I actually wanted something I could use to remember steemit all the time that’s why I went for material stuff. I wished I got good advice, I would have invested into something tangible and be reaping the rewards of it till now.
Living in steem also brought me to another amazing world I have never known before now and that was cryptocurrency. Steem, sbd, bitcoin and ethereum were the only cryptocurrencies I ever knew and all I know then was if bitcoin goes up, all other cryptocurrencies goes up and vice versa. But joining a contest organized then by @originalworks that deals specifically on new projects made me see the beauty and at the same time complexities of cryptocurrency. We were rewarded both in steem and the coins of those new projects that was been launched.
Community and social support |

Source: steem for nigeria
Speaking of community, I’ll say my Nigerian community had helped me a lot. I thought as an old timer, I knew stuff in steemit but I’ve just been deceiving myself. The Nigerian community created a group were we have lectures from those successful steemians every weekend in order to direct our paths to also be successful. For those that have niches they work on them as well and tell them how to develop themselves. I got to know @bossj23, @goodybest, @manuelhooks, @ruthjoe, @ngoenyi @sahmie and a whole lot them.
I also have some Deutsch friends at the @dreamsteem community. People I was lucky to know is @weisser-rabe. I just love her style of writing story. She makes you feel like a character in the story with her descriptive style of writing. I wonder how it will be like if she decides to write a romantic novel. @bambuka is another person I can’t forget as well. His picture contest is one contest I love that always stretch my imaginations. Whenever I start writing his contest, I don’t want to stop. I just want to keep writing and writing. His pictures contest gives me that horror movie vibes and I love horror movies. @michelangelo3 is another person that has been making impact in my post through upvotes and comments. Surprisingly, he’s one of the few old time steemian I’ve seen around here and I’m yet to know the secret how he has been able to stay around for so long all these years and having only 3 months break..😊

- Economical impact
The first laptop I ever got before now was with steemit even though it’s no longer existing again. With steem, I’ve bought some crypto tokens that are doing well now and I believe in the next bull run, it will bring good returns. Steem has also been used to sort a lot of my bills and I was able to recover two times of what I lost to Ponzi schemes years ago.
- Personal development
In terms of personal development, “living with steem” has improved my mind. I can now stretch my brain in order to come up with a story or a post. I love to read books without getting bored is all thanks to steemit. I have learned a lot about different cultures, languages, blockchain technology and even my drawing skills that I’ve abandoned for so many years thanks to @xpilar contest. I’m even thinking of giving it a try in one of his digital art contests but i still have a lot to learn about drawing.
- Social relationships
Steemit is a social media built on blockchain where users make and curate content. By interacting with most of this content, I’ve been able to make network of friends because I love to check their blog out all the times because is always fun to read. Building this relationship has in a way boost my upvote and improve on my writing because I try to learn a thing or two from people that I admire their work and style of writing. I get to see people I share common interests with in terms of ideologies just by building relationships.

Wow, that's quite a journey you've had with Steemit, my friend. It's amazing how Steemit came into your life during a difficult time and became a saving grace for you. I can imagine how tough it must have been after dealing with Ponzi schemes and being penniless. But Steemit turned out to be a miracle in disguise for you.
Even though it started off as just "reading and writing," you quickly realized that it could be more complicated when money was involved. It's great that you were able to improve and overcome the initial challenges, especially with the help of organized challenges and contests. And as you started earning good money from your writing, the idea of looking for a job started fading away. Your boss was right in encouraging you to see Steemit as an actual job where you get paid for your hard work. It's incredible how Steemit has transformed your life and given you a new perspective. Keep up the amazing work, my friend.
