Many countries across the globe have different culture and ethenic groups with differents festival celebrations annually. It be traditional festivals , the rebirth of Christ, Dance festival, Development association festivals etc.All these take annually in year.Organised within some particular date to create awareness to people in and out of the country to attend .Limited with the guided lines question given below 👇.I will be sharing my thoughts of a grand festival in my country and particularly in my village called the “Ngonnso festival”.I hope you find interest reading my post.
My country is Cameroon and with almost 260 ethenic groups. That speaks different languages and has different cultural backgrounds and festivals, even though there are all unique.I will be sharing my ideas Focused on my village festival called the “The Ngonso festival”.Which one amongst other ethenic tribes in Cameroon.
This Ngonnso festival is always celebrated annually during December period from the 26th to 31 of December. It’s usually a week .It’s choosen in this particular period because most people within and outside the country will always be chance to come for the celebration. There are different dance groups both the men and women perform within those those period. Everyone is always excited to spend his or her time in the palace with traditional regalia worn by almost everyone. This dressing signifies our culture and tradition.
There are is always rituals performed by the kings- men .A walk by the kings-men from the place to the market square where rituals are performed to appease the gods of land. Also to make sure peace reign throughout in the land and during the festive periods From there the kings men move back to the palace and perform rituals, here women are excepted and are not allowed to see what they are doing .
If you there attempt to look it’s considered as an obormination act and some cleansing need to be done you to appease the gods of the land. After these the palace with be crowned and crowded with various dance group and performance .People always walked to the para mount Fon of Nso to recieve blessing from him .The fon has a special place where he seat with his kingsmen .
I earlier mentioned it’s always a moment to reunite with your fellow people. It’s always fun to learn new skill ills of dances performance during this festive period .I don’t see my myself programming for any vacation during this period .Rather am excited partaking in the festival.
Also, it’s always an opportunity for one to relates with long time friends .Who have travelled from various locations to witness this occassion .No one is always left as it considered a grand festival celebration.
At times not only the traditional part is been focused .Health personnel are always there to educate the youths things concerning health .Other education elites having educational talks to impact the youth with and encouraged them with go to schools .lastly some new skills are always acquired like how produce omO,Savon, toiletries detergents etc .
Therefore for these reasons above ,I will always love to be present. During the grand festival to celebrate with my family and friends as it’s always fun not to miss this particular festive period.
One of the most memorable festive moment is always a secrets group call Sufai,s ,And the Ngiri’s .They have some or their secrets cults activities that can only be watch by men .Women are always excepted and it’s considered as abomination of try to look at what they are doing.
Incase you fall a victim as a woman a fine will be given to pay or to give the itemsdemanded. For cleansing should be done on you .The following items are always requested .A bag of salt, 20litres of palm oil, 1tin of corn , 1tin of vegetable, 2 Country fowls and a bounch of fire woods .
With all these mentioned , this particular when these secrets needs to perform their rituals.Since women are not allowed by traditional to view the activities. There prefer staying at home because they are afraid to go against the law and be fine.
To sum it all, festive period are always to reunites with family and friends .There are a lots of things that one learn during this period. It’s always fun and a memorable activity as no one is left behind.
I would love to invites @anroja @crisvera @mile16 @josepha and @wilmer1988 to participate in the contest .
