How to know yourself correctly

in LifeStyle6 months ago

We are not able to fully and accurately grasp our own image, strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, personality, temperament, abilities, etc.  So, how do we know ourselves correctly?

1: Know yourself through selfobservation

Our understanding of our various physical and mental states and interpersonal relationships, namely the physical self, the psychological self and the social self.  Such as one's own height, appearance, posture, personality, and the relationship between oneself and others.  The process of self-knowledge is accompanied by emotional experiences, such as pride, self-confidence, or low selfesteem emotions triggered by height and appearance.  And, in the process of self-knowledge and self-emotional experience, whether we have a purpose and consciously regulate and control our actions and thoughts.  We must be good at analyzing ourselves, know ourselves deeply, and better understand our external image and our internal self.

2: Know yourself through the evaluation of others.

We all know that "bystanders are clear" and "using people as a mirror can show gains and losses." In the process of knowing ourselves, we must take the initiative to understand ourselves from others.  We must listen to the evaluations of others with an humility, and at the same time analyze the evaluations of others objectively and calmly so that we can understand ourselves from multiple angles.

3: Know yourself through social comparison.

Selfobservation and evaluation of others will inevitably have their own subjective projections. Therefore, we can better understand ourselves through reasonable social comparisons.  We compare ourselves vertically with our own past and future, horizontally compare ourselves with people of the same age or people with similar conditions, and correctly understand ourselves through a more comprehensive vertical and horizontal social comparison.

4: Know yourself through social practice.

We can get to know ourselves according to the process and results of various activities by participating in various activities.  Analyze your own interpersonal communication skills through cooperation with others, analyze your own organization and management capabilities through organizing activities, and discover your own knowledge mastery through reading activities, and timely check for omissions and fill vacancies.  Analyze your performance and results through specific activities, and get to know yourself more objectively.

5: Know yourself through reflection and summary.

We found that in the above four steps, we are discovering and knowing ourselves. Many people do that, but we still don’t know what kind of person we are. Therefore, we still need to reflect on and summarize ourselves frequently.  .  Write more diaries and record yourself, summarize and summarize your strengths and weaknesses in a timely manner, and better grasp the physical, psychological, and social self.
