What is Prayer, REALLY? Exploring Prayer for Non-Believers
The basis for The White Light Express is in "The Power of Positive Focused Intention."
Although we receive many prayer requests every month, and my own process is based in what we might call "Christ Consciousness," the organization is basically non-religious but spiritual.
Some dismiss what we're doing on the basis of the fact that when they hear the word "prayer," they immediately associate it with religion, and so they feel put off.
But what is a prayer, really?
What would it become, if we were to simply substitute the generic and quite secular word "asking" for the word "prayer?"
We ASK for Stuff All the Time!
Even non-believers ask for stuff, all the time.
Many don't realize it, but it's in our language. It's sitting in a traffic jam with the needle approaching empty and saying "please let me make it to the next gas station" to the empty space around us.
Or it's saying "I sure hope that restaurant I used to go to all the time is still open" when we're passing through an old neighborhood where we used to live, and we're hungry for dinner.
The Heart of Why it Works: Focus
There is actually psychology behind claims that prayer works, and things like the Law of Attraction work, and "Manifesting" work... and that all has to do with focus.
Before we can ASK for something, we have to define what it is we're asking for. Even if we are just going to help ourselves (as opposed to appealing to "God," or "The Universe"), we go through a process of moving from a state of random confusion to actually focusing in the outcome we want to become reality.
Which thought platform do you think is more likely to result in dinner? "I feel something" or "I could sure eat a hamburger!"
Focus. Intent. It's really quite simple, if you break it down into its component parts!
