New Weekly Geographical Photo Contest : Forest Animals

Animals are wild and domesticated. Domesticated, for example, include a cat. The cat eats, sleeps and warms up at the hearth of a person. Well, or at least asks to be warm.

And wild animals themselves survive in nature, they have their own biorhythms, habits and traditions. If, of course, you can put it that way. For example, a badger - "the lord of the forest" belongs to the wild beast. Badgers are strict owners, they live in holes and do not tolerate uninvited guests in them. They tirelessly dig underground passages, "maternity hospitals" and dormitories underground, line them with beddings of dry grass - they build their "badger town".

Large cows and bulls, “insulated” with thick dark brown hair, live in the reserves of Belarus. Their horns are bent upward, there is a steep hump on their backs, they weigh half a ton, and sometimes up to nine hundred kilograms. These are bison - legendary inhabitants of the forests, very powerful animals with valuable skins, with very tasty and nutritious meat. Bison were so important that the local king issued a decree according to which poaching of this animal was punishable by death. However, the king himself simply wanted to hunt bison with his retinue and was worried that he would not get the prey.

In the First World War, poachers killed the last bison that lived in the forests. But bison still remained in private estates and zoos, and biologists re-bred them. For the sake of this beast, the International Society for the Preservation of Bison was even created.

A wonderful animal with large soft paws is the lynx. Her ears, like antennas, pick up the slightest rustles of other animals. The lynx hunts for hares, sees a mouse seventy-five meters away. Her paws resemble snowshoes, her claws retract into the pads. Therefore, it is easy for this big cat to move through snowdrifts. Little lynx kittens are very funny. Their eyes are like wild berries. I love the lynx ears - they are triangles with funny black tassels at the ends.

Many thanks and best regards to @belenguerra, @badsha1 @bright-obias and @worldgeography, who have opened up great opportunities for world geography.
