Hello, steemians...it's amazing to be participating in this contest, it is my first time of writing in this community and i hope it comes out well. I wish to say a big thank you to @belenguerra and @worldgeography for organizing this amazing contest.

What's this
What i love most in my country Nigeria is the diversity in cultures and traditional attires. Nigeria is one of the most populated African countries with over 200Million people. Nigeria has so many ethnic groups, about 527 languages and over 1,150 dialects.
Some of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria include Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and Fulani. These ethnic groups have their own cultures and traditional attires which are worn on special occasions like traditional weddings and religious gathering.

Why do you love it
I love the traditional attires because of how beautiful and colourful the patterns are and how they can be styled in different ways. Moreso, our traditional attires tend to stand out in Africa and the world at large.
Some of the famous traditional attires in Nigeria include:

1. Agbada: this is a wide, long robe usually worn by men in the western part of Nigeria during special events. It is one of the finest attires in the Yoruba kingdom.

2. Gele: this is a head wrap worn by women of different ethnic groups in Nigeria. It comes in a very exaggerated manner is usually wrapped beautifully. The head tie is used as an ornamental head covering or fashion accessory or for functionality in different settings.

I have met these traditional attires, i even have one myself. There is a particular event held in the city of Calabar every December called Calabar carnival. It hosts people from all walks of life and they are dresses in different attires which is usually a beautiful sight to behold.

History
Clothes are as old as man hence Nigerian traditional attires have been since the inception of the country even before we took up the western attires. Tie and die and other attires were introduced by the forefathers and the younger generation as continued in the same line.

Traditional attires are worn all year long and they have been simplified in styles that can be worn on a daily basis even to work or official places. It is worn all over the country and different tribes that attires that are particular to them and a lot of people love it.
