Hello everyone,

Introduction

One of the greatest innovations of the early men has to be the construction of street. Street has different roads which makes traveling easy and very simple. Street comprises of buildings, trees🌲and sometimes markets. Therefore, any street that has a lot of buildings in both side of it and market along it most especially in local roads where there's no much space and always busy must lead to traffic jam. Although important of street can not be over emphasized because the service street provide is very vital to a particular city as it serves as network for much physical activities.

Brief about Rumuosi/Ozuoba street

Rumuosi/ Ozuoba are two different city but in the same Obio-akpor local government Area in Rivers State , Nigeria. I know you might be surprised how the street bears two different city name. The street was named as Rumuosi /Ozuoba street because of the closest of their boundary.

Important Features of the Street.

My street is a very interesting one because it links you to different city as well as some rural areas which has made it to be a busy one. As of 2015, regardless of the street road damaged by big trunks which made the road to be bad yet it was still busy. Luckily, the government awarded the road in 2016 and it was constructed which made the road more busy. Although, before the construction of the road, the street was messed up with flood because no drainage where the water might head to. Since, the road was constructed, the human population has totally increased as such has caused the road to become more busy.

Currently, the street have very fine road without any sign of potholes in it but yet still has a big problem of bottleneck road which people living in the street keep murmuring about it.

My street is a bottleneck that it's congested with parking of vehicles. From it being always congested, to parking of vehicle along the road. I live at rumosi road ozuoba. It is very narrow and bottlenecked. This street is actually a link of ozuoba to rumuosi,so taxi usually line up to carry passengers. Because of the narrow road and cars parked along the road, there's usually traffic congestion especially in the evening.

Sometimes when walking along the road, if you are not careful you can be thrown into the gutter by this taxi drivers. Sometimes due to lack of patience and understanding with others, the drivers end up quarreling among themselves over minor issues. As a result of this traffic congestion, sometimes accident tend to occur on this street, a driver will bump into another person's car and so on. Due to lack of pedestrian lane and the narrowness of the road, you end up having pedestrian traffic.

Remedy to the problem as a Geographer

One of the ways to tackle the problem in my street, is to expand the road. I know that because of the living condition in the country, citizen rents shops and keep goods for sales along the road, and expansion of this road will affect their source of income and livelihood but, the government can compensate this people and help expand the road to reduce the traffic and accident that happens in this street.

Also taxi drivers should mind where they pack and learn to obey some traffic rules. Driving involves driving your own car and driving for others. It means it takes lot of patience and tolerance. So taxi drivers should be patient and tolerant when driving.

Creation of pedestrian lane will help in reduction of the traffic congestion and bottleneck situation of my street. At least humans won't have to be dragging space with cars on the street.

Finally, since the road can't be expanded, there should be provision of car park where the cars will be parked.
From the image below, in the morning there's no traffic because there were no car parked so provision of car park will play a vital role.
